Coxreels are the best around. Made in USA 2 year warantee, and boy, do you pay for them. My friends dad )the one who runs the striping buisness) has them all over the shop, and he has afew reels for water hose as well. Its all ball bearing and they are heavy as hell... 60+ lbs each.

Next id say Reelcraft, made in usa, but they have 1 year warantee, a bit cheaper. Then you start getting into the asian made stuff.

The drawback to them is that they are really heavy.

If your talking about the manual wind ones, then you cant really go wrong with any of them. A few are made in USA with decent prices, viking makes one that you can get from www/thetoolwarehouse.net

Yeah, the good ones at least. You can get the HF ones for liek $50 but your lookign at over 200 for a coxreel. But they are truly industrial. Ill get a pic. of my friends sometime. They use seriously heavy gauge sheet metal and ball bearings... minimal plastic, all powder coated.

The reason we ddint install one in our garage was because it would have to go up into the cieling, and its so damn heavy, wed need to brace up the rafters and we figured its more trouble than its worth.

Sounds like he is talking about airlines. Which you can also run water through, The mechanics where I used to work used air lines and air guns on an air reel for shop water (filling radiators, batteries etc.)

I didn't take the time to read all of the above. However "reelcraft" is a leader in this field. They make air, water and welding gas reels and more. That is what I would recommend but then again they are not cheap. They will last a life time. And if you go with their stainless line it will outlast your kids kids. Unless you drive over it with the tractor. j/k

Thanks Elroy for your thoughts.....I think reelcraft is the way to go...because I would rather have this and last a long time then buying one every couple years and it ends up costing me more this way

I am not running an air hose system for watering the lawn

What else were you going to do with the water you drain out of your air lines? :lol_hitti

I would stay away from some of the plastic ones you see at Sears, HD, ect. We have one from Sears and it's starting to fall apart, the plastic is "decomposing". I guess it just isn't UV resistent as it should be.

Just to throw out one more alternative, I am using a Retracta hose reel mounted inside my garage. The retractable line works great and their stuff is high quality. They are a little on the pricey side, but I was able to get a great deal by calling up. They had one color combo of casing and hose that they were blowing out cheaper than the rest. An adapter would be needed from hose threading to garden threading from home depot for like $5.

I think they have a specific gardening variant, but I couldn't tell if the end of the hose had threading on it. Looked like it might have been just a nozzle.

Id have to say Reelcraft isnt quite as nice as Coxreels. They are topnotch in terms of quality and durability. I;ve yet to see anything nicer than thier stuff.

Coxreel or Reelcraft kind of like Snap-on or Mac.

Someday they all will be made in China. (Hope Not)
