Are these any good? They have them at my local store....cheap enough but are they worth even the $10?

for less then 10 bucks, their drill bits cut better than Vermont / Bosch / Dewalt. In a pinch, ya they're worth it. IMHO

What I posted is not something that I would personally do, but an option for those that really want to push for the deal. There are some die-hard folks out there that will do an extensive amount of haggling just to save a few bucks.

I'd thought about complaining about how this thread is so cluttered with that mediocre Lowes socket set with the incorrect description, but we need something to spread out the stuff you keep posting from Amazon. Does Amazon offer some kind of referral credit? That's the only thing I can think of to cause you to just post Amazon stuff that is less than "hot deals" as some people will jump on anything that gets posted.

Oh wait, and here an Amazon tool set to catch your attention...
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00005RF5D/?tag=atomicindus08-20

What do you consider a "hot deal"? I search for the bottom pricing on Amazon. Being on a budget I look for the best quality that I can afford. Instead of getting grief for not posting the deals I find, I try to post them for all to take advantage of. As most of us know the prices change radically on Amazon, so what was a hot deal can vanish within minutes.

Thanks for the link to the Melissa & Doug Take Along set, but I'm holding out for the John Deere set in my avatar. :bounce:

Not sure if this is available at all the Lowes stores. Kobalt pneumatic caulking gun at the Reading PA Lowes for $7.08. I'd sure they've been discontinued as they are no longer listed on the Lowes website. Original price was $28 and some change. They only had one at my store. I didn't have a use for it so I left it there. It's with the rest of the pneumatic tools on the bottom shelf.

I saw the same thing at my lowes store only it was $9 and some change. The guy said that they have discontinued it and they were clearancing them all out.

*Edited due to shortage of sparkles*

I since added a note to the DealGuyd Amazon deal widget. The deals in there are not hand-picked and are set by a number of discount and category parameters. I'm working on hand-picked discounts, but I figured a real-time widget would provide more reliable prices.

Amazon has the Dremel 6300-05 120-Volt Multi-Max Oscillating Kit on sale for $67.99. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002WTCDXO/?tag=atomicindus08-20

That is a pretty decent deal. I'm wondering why they're doing that. Clearing out stock for the new cordless model?

I also saw these on clearance at 3 of my local stores ($9.00).

Not alot of uses for this tool that I am aware of, but...

one who does alot of autobody (seam sealer) could definitely benefit from one of these. I'm going to go check my local store. It's a good price.

Any other ideas how to use on of these?

What you said about autobody is about the best use I could think of. I have the Ryobi One+ cordless caulking gun and I like it allot. I don't think I would like dragging around the air hose everywhere though to use that one. If it gets cheaper than $9 I might pick one up for the heck of it.

I was in Home depot earlier and they had Husky stubby screw drivers for sale for $.13 cents a piece!

I picked up a handful of them, they feel pretty cheap, but for that price there good enough!

Hm. Someone near me doing a little profiteering.

http://rochester.craigslist.org/tls/2051756926.html

I was really tempted to pick up a set when I saw it in-store, but I was really disappointed the last time I picked up a special Irwin holiday bundle drill bit set. Maybe if they're still in stock the next time I head over there...

13 cents! They were a whopping 26 cents each when I saw them, with no Phillips in sight. Did you see the $2 hammers and loads of other cheap Husky "special buys"?

lPlease don't be offended by my previous comment - I intended to be helpful and build on the info you provided, and didn't mean to criticize or argue against it.

I was way harsh when I wrote my comment. I apologize. If you want to delete your quote of me, I've deleted my grumpy post, and it will be like it didn't happen. Not sure why I went off like that. :headscrat The only defense I can offer is: I posted without morning coffee.

Don't worry about it. =)

Unrelated, I'm searching for a particular thread I started a long, long time ago. I found a LOT of deal threads I started. It's a good thing one day I woke up and decided to start centralizing them!

This thread has been viewed nearly 200,000 times!

I noticed the T-handle screwdriver set for $10.
I didn't pay much attention to the other stuff though.

There were a bunch of phillips in this store, so I picked up 4 phillips and 4 flat.
I don't even know what I'm going to do with these, but for some reason, I almost with I bought more!

The rubber feels a bit wonkey, just really cheap, but I can look past that for 13 cents.

Edit
Wow! 100 pages.

Wow! 100 pages.

The T-handle set frightened me. High torque + cheap drivers = recipe for disaster.

I see 50 pages. =) Changed my forum options to 40 posts per page a long time ago. This is great for longer threads that can have long discussions.

This is my favorite thread. And coming from the guy who started the burgeoning HF Pass Fail thread, that's saying something! (It's saying I like your thread better than mine, not to put too fine a point on it.) Sorry I have no deal in this posting, just wanted to get onto page 100 is all.

Not sure if it belongs here or not, but I just scored an SK 94547 on the clearance rack at my local Sears. Apparently it was an internet purchase that was returned. It's brand new, and still has the "sleeve" around the case.....best part, $67.91!
They also had a bunch of the CM Pro stubby wrench sets metric and standard.

i think the point of this thread is to post stuff everyone has a chance to buy and save some loot on. not a one time deal that you got lucky to find. congrats on the purchase though

I notice my local sears keeps sneaking some SK stuff out in the display area. So far I've picked up 3 1/4" fine tooth flex ratchets, 3/8 flex ratchet a set of SAE line wrench crows feet and a set of 3/8 extentions. I have less than 100 dollars in all of it. Everytime I go by there or wife goes in Sears I have her look down the main isle where all the wrenches, ratchets and screwdrivers are. It always has a yellow tag with Clearance on it. I wish my Sears would throw one of those sets out for me. I have thought about talking with the manager and see if it's old stock in the store or warehouse stock they are deviding out amoung stores. I've never seen SK stuff in my sears until SK went under

After looking at the Husky boxes in the store and seeing how poorly one held up that I looked at used off of craigslist I think I would rather go to harbor freight and buy their box for a little bit more money.

I looked at these a few months ago when I was shopping for a box. They felt so thin and cheap feeling. I spent 50 bucks more for a Masterforce 41 in box at Mendards. I think they are a little better built IMHO.

I dont think those are actually 3/4" drive. Most of them are 3/8" drive. 1/4" size thats 3/4" drive that didn't add up to me.

Thanks for the heads-up on these. Two of them were 3/8" drive like you stated. I verified them on Proto's website. I changed the descriptions.

I'd be interested in those if they had ball bearing slides. That unfortunately kills the item for me.

Don't worry, it is your job to do your due diligence and not the poster of the "deals".

They do have ball bearing slides, according to the description
You are absolutely correct. I must have seen "EZ GLIDE" and stopped there thinking they were the usual cheap glide ones.

In my little experience with BB slides, they seem to be attached to the cases better than the cheap non-BB slide ones. Others here have complained that they are not that great in the stores so I'll have to go see one in person to make a decision.
