Yeah that figures I bought them about 3 weeks ago at sears when they were 49.99 on sale. I wonder if I take the reciept in there is they will refund me the diffrence.

14 day price match, 90-day return policy, you could buy them at the lower price and then return them against the original higher priced receipt.

how comparable is the $25 wright ebay ratchet to the $20 proto big dawg ratchet?

I've never used the Proto. The dual pawl Wright ratchets are very fine tooth. They have 41 teeth, but because it's dual pawl it clicks 82 times per revolution.

I think the Proto has fewer teeth, but it's $5 less.

That's the limited info I have.

Would you say that Wright is about on par with armstrong or SK? I assume, because of the price that it is a step below Snap-on and possibly williams?

I can't really speak to the strength of the ratchet in comparison to SK or Snap-On, but I have the ratchet it and like it a lot, though there are a couple odd things about it:

- the selector mechanism rotates with the ratchet (like other similar round head designs I assume, but it seems particularly loose as you need reverse resistance to switch it)

- there is "play" in the rotation, that is, I can grab the drive portion and wiggle it a bit inside the head (this also might be normal for the open design?)

My biggest beef with Wright is the warranty (and they don't really serve individuals); I can't find anyone local to swap my ratchet out (pockmark in the chrome), and don't really feel like shipping it back in for such a small defect.

Here's a quick review I did of a Wright ratchet I recently bought.

In my opionion the Wrights are on par with Williams, Armstrong and Proto. Also, I've owned all 4 brands. Matco ratchets used to be rebranded Wrights. My Wrights have bright chrome, good action. If I'm understanding the issues recall mentioned, I think you'd find those things with most round head ratchets.

I can't comment on the strength compared to the other brands, as I've never broken a ratchet.

As far as the warranty, I prefer brands where I can send them in, because I don't like having to find a local distributor to try to get warranty service.

I'm just a DIY'er who buys and sells a decent number of ratchets, but Wright sure seems on par with other quality ratchets to me.

Anybody got these? How do they hold up?

Just got my set yesterday, VERY happy with it! BTW, the one I got was the older? one that includes the T70. I see some of the newer models (same OTC part number do not include the T70).
As for warranty, lifetime with no impact use allowed.

Lowes has free ground shipping with no minimum order. The email says limited time but does not specify and end date. I just ordered a couple of 8mm Gearwrench flexibles for $9 a piece to go with the NAPA sets. Saved me an hour and a couple of dollars in gas going to the store. Also about 1/2 of Sears' price for the same item.

Not sure if this is national or not, but my local Lowes has the 22 pc. pass thru ratchet set for $19.98. Sign at store said until 9/24/10, but online it said thru 12/11/10 I just picked up the Gearwrench 49 pc during the Sears 50% off sale, or else I would have bought Kobalt set.

I was just about to order 2 sets of these and even though the website said it would be on sale until 12/11/10 they're back to $39.98.

Just goes to show you if you snooze you loose when it comes to bargains. :lol_hitti

I bought a set the other day and all I did was tell the manager that it was a different price online and he pulled it up on his computer and then changed the price for me and then even gave me my 10% military discount off on top of that.

I just picked these boxes up in store, they were marked down an additional $50 each.

$499 out the door for both made me happy. The slides are smooth and sturdy, and while the steel is a little thin in the drawers, once I installed the casters and stacked the boxes it feels sturdy.

It's my first large tool chest, so I'm happy either way. It'll take me a long time to fill, but I'll do my best. :)

As far as I know, Sears doesn't offer any click-through-coupons, but sometimes issues additional $5 off $50 coupons to random promos with certain websites.

I thought they did away with these coupon codes for good a few months ago after people figured out the many $5 off $50 they issued stacked together. Will look into it.

Edit: Coupon Cabin codes are not valid, even after click-through.

We did not find a promotion that matches the information you have entered. Please check your code and try again.

Same experience as Grif99.
Used clickthrough couponcabin.com for SNOW $5 off; then entered SEARS5OFF50 for another $5 off; also received 10% off for Cyber Monday today tools.

THANKS.

i wasnt impressed and thought they were cheep n flimsy when i saw them this morning. hell of a lot of storage for 500 tho but id only assume it wont hold up based on the flimsyness of the metal... top drawer went side to side 2-3 "

Double coupon worked for me, also. Used Sears clickthrough link on couponcabin.com for $5 off; then entered SEARS5OFF50 for another $5 off; also received 10% off for Cyber Monday today tools.

Simply typing the coupon code SNOW did not work. I had to use the link on couponcabin.

Thank you!!
