Sometime today my Amazon cart went crazy - it looks like quite a few Beta tools dropped in price by 10-20% since yesterday all at once!

50%-off+ Listing

I might pick up a screwdriver set that I've been eyeballing for a while, but don't really need any more.

Thanks. Bought a few minor things, some screwdriver bits and hacksaw blades. The 11 piece screwdriver set was tempting, but couldn't justify it as I don't really need it.

Didn't really need what I bought though anyway :lol_hitti

Anyone with a wife or GF who buys a lot of clothes/shoes/jewelry/etc. should take this as a lesson and show some sympathy. Tools are man-jewelry and tool boxes and cabinets are our jewelry boxes or closets. Plain, simple, clear and obvious. It's a habit that sometimes escalates to a pathological behavior and whether a man or woman, we love our respective hobby.

haha, imagine how I feel - I see so many good prices, but I'm already over capacity. In the past three years my tool storage needs more than tripled!

There are some real gems amongst that Beta stuff at Amazon. However, a lot of that Beta stuff is still over priced for what you get.

I wonder what Amazon is going to do with all of those thermoformed trays? I can't see those selling at any price.

Those were the first things Amazon/Small Parts started stocking. I can't imagine that they sell well.

You warned me about the beta stuff back a while ago, damm you Stuey.
I picked up my first beta tool last week, extra long reach needle nose, the fit and finish is very nice and the action seems to be as well, might just have to go poking around amazon to see what i don't need that i must have. I curse you and your deals.

I might have to go ahead and order a pair of Beta pliers myself. I'm not at all happy with their sliding T-handle hex drivers, but their P-handle ones and screwdrivers are decent. I'm fighting the urge to buy sets of those!

Ordered a beta zeus fastener screwdriver, that is all i came up with that i did not all ready have or need. I will have to keep checking.
The beta long reach needle nose i bought last week were a good deal at $19 when you consider the snap on version i have with 45 degree tips was $50, and the kleins i have been eyeballing are $49 on amazon. { flame suit on } the beta ones have a nicer finish and feel just as good as the snap on ones. What was i thinking when i paid $50 bucks on the tool truck for those. Live and learn. Does anyone have any of the Beta soft face hammers, the ones with the orange plastic faces, they look interesting.
Stuey, thanxs for posting all the good stuff you come across. I appreciate the time you spend and the good will to share it with all here at the garagejournal.

You're very welcome!

And that's a great endorsement. I'm in need of bent nose pliers as well, will give 'em a try!

Edit: Darn, only the shorter bent nose pliers are still in stock. =(

I have never owned any Beta brand stuff, i might have to give something of theirs a try ;)

How do beta sockets compare with the competition anyway?

I can not say one way or an other about the sockets, but i recently got a couple of body hammers, metal forming dolly and long needle nose, fit and finish is nice on all, comfortable in the hand, work well, hammers are comfortable as well, but the metal dolly is sweet, shiny chrome and flawless. I will purchase from beta again. The trick with amazon is to put things in on your wish list and watch the price daily, pounce when the time is right. This has been working out for me pretty well.

I ordered a Beta socket a few months ago, and it's like a work of art! Compared to the Craftsman sockets I have, its finish is utterly amazing.

I couldn't find it on their website but Tractor Supply has a pack of 10 led flashlights with batteries for $10. I picked up two packs and have them in every car I own and saved a few for spares.

Thanks to whatsitsname. I picked up the 3pc Milwaukee combo at HD yesterday. The one that they had in the end cap was only the quick chuck drill and mini-sawzall. They had two of the 3pc kits up in the rack. Same p/n on the box. I assume the same sku# too since it rang up the same $149.

Had a problem tho. The batteries wouldn't charge. I got the double red/green blinking lights on both batteries. Tried a couple of different outlets same thing. Took them to HD and they charged w/o a problem. Brought them back home. One did the same thing, the second one started charging. Put #1 in the drill ran it a bit and then it charged w/o a problem?? Hope I don't have some bad batteries. They were the new red ones too.

These are seem to be more rugged than my 12v Bosch tools....more visible metal on the outside and a bit heavier. I've been wanting a the 3 jaw chucked Bosch drill, but for $149 I couldn't pass up this 3 pc kit from MW.

Also picked up the Ryobi 18v Lithium Ion paint sprayer for $149 (reg $200). I got it for the 2 batteries (full sized, not the small compact) and charger. I've got a few of the old blue NiCad tools that I didn't want to throw out. The batteries are $90/ea and the single charger is $40.

Glad you found the 3 piece kit. I already bought a few of these kits for family members. Most are found way on the top rack as you say. Regarding the battery, it is most likely the battery is not inserted all the way. Just take it back out and set it back in with a tap on the battery's back during insertion. I thought mine was defective too at first. They are just too tight fitting at first but after a few insertion and removal it works good.

I also bought the (newer) 12 Bosch driver/impact combo during the Thanksgiving sale. I l love that set with its power and speed. What I don't like is that the hex feels too loose to me. Also their 12v tool line is very limited so I had no choice but choose the Milwaukee over Bosch.

If your in California, OSH weekly ad (this week) has a 15% off a single item printed right on the back. If you bring it to your local HD you can actually get the Milwaukee M12 3 piece kit for $127 before taxes.

Gearwrench 1/4 impact socket set from Cripe distributing. $88 plus shipping.

http://www.cripedistributing.com/gea...03-p-7585.html

Also sold by the same company through eBay if you don't feel like making an account.

http://cgi.ebay.com/GearWrench-71pc-Impact-SAE-METRIC-Std-Deep-Universal-/330509898193?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4cf3ecd1d1

I was just fighting with myself last week over buying one of these 71-piece 1/4" impact master sets, they all seem to be around $200 if you hunt for the lowest price for each part number (Sunex, Grey Pneumatic, etc.). Though one set I saw had some bit sockets instead of universals, they all appear to be the same thing.

Well, this settles that decision for me :).

Gave in and picked up the Knipex at lowes. They were right in the electrical tools section along the bottom row.

Then headed over to Home Depot and searched high and low for that 3 piece set and couldn't find one. Honestly couldn't even find the 2 piece set either, and I looked high and low. Going to head back up there with part number next time and see if maybe it's hiding somewhere.

Damn you Garage Journal and your good deals!

I just ordered a Beta body hammer, screwdriver, M6 XZN socket and barely met the $25 free shipping! To those complaining about your wives complaining, it's worse when you're single. There is nobody to tell you "no." I had my amazon cart open while on the phone with the Matco guy :) :(

From slickdeals: 40% off on all IN STOCK merchandise at http://www.tylertool.com/. Use coupon code WINTER40.

Warning, most stuff is on backorder and coupon does not apply. What is left has been picked through pretty well already. I looked at Hitachi, Bosch, Dremmel, some Dewalt, etc. all backordered and coupon can't be used. You can order, but they will cancel.

I think this is mainly a drop ship operation and they are clearing out what little stock they have on hand. If you can find something, it's most likely a decent deal, but finding is the hard part.

Good luck and don't say I didn't warn you. I didn't order anything, cause I couldn't find anything in stock I wanted.
