Lowe's had the thermometer marked for 19.98 in store, but when I checked at the checkout it was 9.98. Used my vet discount also, plus the free Bostich level....was a good night!

I'm assuming he's talking about the buy a Bostitch knife, get a free torpedo level deal @ lowes - (which expires tomorrow people!) I got myself another set this evening... the knife i thought was stupid at first turned out to be pretty cool... Both for $8, cant argue with that.

My General thermostat was also marked as $20 in store, but rang up $10.

HEY....we bought the exact same 3 items tonight!

My Lowes also has the General Tools Moisture Meter MMD4E for $9.98. Reg. 29.98.

My Lowes had both the moisture meter and digital thermometer. Under $10 each. Used a gift card online and snagged both and the last 5 USA made Kobalt wrenches in the store for a dollar each. A pain to use the gift card. Nowhere does it say where the PIN number is (It's under a wavy sticker on the back). 866 number on receipt is wrong. 800 number they refer you to dumps you off and when you finally get on requires the PIN number to proceed!!!!!

A large number of Beta items on Amazon.com dropped from 50% off to 65% off today. There are some nice deals out there. Other items have gone up in price over the last few weeks.

If anyone is a fan of Wera, Amazon right now has some pretty nice discounts on almost all of their screwdriver sets.

I just wanted to say thanks for the heads up on the Wera @ Amazon, I've been watching pretty close for the last few months up until this week (busy week), so once again, thanks!

I just picked up the Kraftform Plus 932/6 Chiseldriver for $37.33 and the Kraftform Plus Lasertip 334/6 for $30.23! I'm really happy now! I just hope none of the PB Swiss or Felo sets go on sale until next month now.

You *******, I had the 932/6 set in my cart, and didn't check out, even though there were only 2 left in stock. I added the 334/6, and checked out... bingo, no more 932/6 left.

Grr.

In for one also, thanks!

Just got back from lowes and they said that they didn't have it in stock and told me the order was cancelled without sending me an email. The lady basically told me, "too bad it wasn't her fault she does not control the computer system". Customer service at lowes Federal Way,WA has gone downhill lately, I think it's time to switch to Home Depot. Was charged and posted on our account for the product and couldn't get a refund as we were told there is nothing they could do. Pretty sad that I have to go thru the hassle to contact corporate about this.

What section of Lowe's can I find the thermometer and moisture meter? I just can't picture it in my head.

I sadly knew where to go without ever even seeing it before. General brand tools are generally (no pun intended!) located around the wood working power tools/accessories. They have their only little small end cap section usually. Thats where mine was. A laser thermometer under wood working tools. :lol_hitti

I took advantage of Lowe's tonight.

I checked the price on the thermometer last night it was $20. I went in tonight to look for it and to see if the price lowered. I couldn't find it, however I found the last of the Kobalt clearance tools. I got the following

1/2" drive deep metric sockets (15,16,17,18,19 & 21) for $0.50 ea
11/16" Gearwrench for $1
3/8" drive to 1/4" drive adapter for $.50
1/4" plastic socket rail for $0.75

I went home and checked online and they had a thermometer in stock for $9.97. I ordered it online and picked it up 30 mins alter along with the Bostich dual blade knife and free level.

Anyone got any good ideas on how to spend the $100 in Sears gift cards I got for father's day? I could probably use just about anything... of course, I need a new floor jack too.

Do those Lowe's General thermometers actually work? Anyone tried one yet?

I picked up one of the general thermometers from the lowe's deal. The readings seem less consistent than others I've used. For example, if I take some readings, get something consistent, put it in my pocket (display hanging out) for a few minutes, and take more readings, they are 5-7 degrees (F) lower. If it's just sitting out for a while and you take measurements, it seems really accurate. But as you play with it, shooting different stuff, just handling it, the readings that once seemed accurate might now be reading 3 or 4 degrees different.

IR guns are always finicky in this way, in my experience, but this one seems a little more so. It's a good buy at $10, you just need to play with it to find the limitations and adjust your expectations for accuracy.

Im finding that this temp gun is only accurate within 18 inches or so of the target..

the one we have at work, is accurate at a MUCH greater distance

Consider that the area the temp gun reads for temperature is cone shaped (in other words gets bigger as the distance increases). So if you hold it 1" from a surface, it reads, say a 2" square area. If you hold it 1' from the surface, it now reads a 2' area. Think of a flashlight and how the beam grows as you increase the distance. Same thing.

The actual numbers are made up in this example, but the principle applies. Check the users manual, it probably has an illustration with numbers.

Here's a generic illustration:

I've got a pretty decent one from Raytek. Your illustration certainly demonstrates how these work. Mine will get accurate temps from like 10 feet away, it's amazing. I shoot the attic temps from the garage floor before I climb up into the attic. I'm sure I paid a couple hundred for mine.

Just got a Rotozip RZ5 at my local Orchard Supply & Hardware. On sale or clearance for $37.50 (usually $99) and plus the 15% off flyer equals a cool $32.

I think that is a pretty good deal...

Not exactly a tool, but I'm sure a lot of you would be interested:

Purolator PureONE oil filters - As low as $.33 each + tax @ Advance Auto + MIR

These are on sale for $5 each. If you buy 3, and use code BIG5, it will knock the price down to $10 (3 @ $3.33/each). After the MIR, the price is $1 for 3 ($.33 each!) It's free store pick-up, and you'll have to pay tax. Not a bad price on these filters. Very high quality.

It looks like you can get the same thing directly from sears with instore pickup. I am showing the SAE and metric gearwrench for $33.99 before tax....

I don't like how with these reversible gearwrench you can only put them on the fastener from one side...
