anyone know the coupon code for this?
Went and looked at both of them, seems like this is the better deal for what I am looking for.

Will be picking up a 13 Drawer US General from HF this weekend ... What's the best price you guys have seen over the past year or so on the Top Chest that accompanies this box?

the top box is always $299 i believe. I've never seen it lower. Personally if you have the space i'd just get 2 42" cabinets or the 56".

I have the 41" bottom, top, and side. The top is important for me (rather than a second bottom) because putting things at or above waist level is critical when you have a bad back (herniated disc). I'm pretty sure I'm about to have to buy a second 41" stack, though, as I'm running out of space.

Also, with regards to a bigger-than-41" box, keep in mind that the difficulty of moving anything bigger than the 41" set will grow immensely. With the 41", I can push it around the shop easily enough by myself and I'm pretty sure we could get it up a ramp into a U-Haul with two or three guys (even fully loaded) when it comes time to move to a different shop. With the 56" or 72", you're going to get into a situation where you're either unloading it or calling a roll-back to move it ($$$).

The 13 Drawer Roll Cabinet is 44"+ wide I believe.

Nontheless - there is a 42" high, side cabinet in that set. It has two drawers and two adjustible shelves. You can older additional shelves for $10.00 each.

At $199.99 given the quality of the 42" high side cabinet - I am seriously considering buying one or two - then just mounting them to the garage wall. With a couple extra shelves they are a great place to store bulky tools/items at a reasonable cost.

For the current price - I can't recommend the 56" wide rol cabinet. It's not as well built. Total load capacity for the 56" is 1900 or so lbs - Total Load capacity for the 44" is 2900 or so lbs. Nonetheless the 56" is a nice box that would work for most homeowners - it is just its current price that is out of line.. If the 44" is on sale for $349.99 then the 56" should be closer to $449.99 IMHO.

FWIW,
Carl B.

My local Lowes has a jack & stands combo pack on clearance. I think it was $89 dollars. They also have all of the bottle jacks on clearance also. I don't know if it's just local, or a national thing, might be worth checking out.

Anyone have a coupon for the h f $9 torque wrench or aluminium floor jack?

1 1/2 ton aluminum floor jack $69.99 until 8/31
http://widgets.harborfreight.com/ws...tml&cust=99999999999&keycode=1002&single=true

1/2" Torque wrench $14.99 until 8/31
http://widgets.harborfreight.com/ws...tml&cust=99999999999&keycode=1002&single=true

This one is for the same torque wrench for $9.99 but the expiration date is hard to read (may be 9/15/11)

I'm still pretty new too, but I follow this thread daily, and I personally don't mind any deal at all being posted here, even if it is posted elsewhere on the site, or even if it is a harbor freight coupon deal. I know there are a lot of HF coupons out there all the time, but if someone finds a particularly good deal on one of their tools that is worth buying, I'd love to hear about it here.

Just got an email about this deal and was going to post it, but javadave beat me to it. Great deal even if you only need one of the tools. INCREDIBLE deal if you need both!

edit: I just realized that the OP was Defender Chassis and wanna give credit where credit is due. That's what I get for working dog shift and being tired when I post. Going to bed now...

Wasn't directed at you.

I was merely pointing out the HF specific deal thread.

Yeah, cause The one guy is looking for a jack.
But are the stores still refusing the printed coupons, or are they taking them.
Or does it depend on the store.
I am a good hour and a half and hate to drive there and not be able to use it.
Was that jack coupon e mailed by HF?

Now, is that a pretty good jack?

i would strongly recommend you avoid jack stands like those included in that OTC bundle. the big flat surface they rest on makes them very tippy on anything other than a good concrete floor. i much prefer the good old steel 4-footed ratcheting type like these http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000L7O9JU/?tag=atomicindus08-20. hell, just go to an advance/autozone and pick up their torin version of the same thing.

as far as a jack goes, if you don't need it to be aluminum, i think you'll do better with a much heavier steel unit like this http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000Y9YGX4/?tag=atomicindus08-20. i believe most costco stores carry something similar to that.

I have similar jack stands. They're fantastic right under a k-member.
I've used them on driveways to garage floors. When doing car work, people ask me to bring these stands, as theyre gentile on the K member jacking points. In other words, if you have a place that requires a flat surface stand, I've been totally happy with mine. I have a different, more standard set for the rear axle.

I was ready to get this until I noticed that the meter only does AC amps.
I need a clamp meter, but I want it to do DC, so I can check parasitic battery draw and other car related things.
Does anyone know if I am correct about this?

i think we're talking past each other :) i'm referring to the jack stand / ground interface, and i think you're referring to the jack stand / load interface. the 'flatter' load interface certainly can be advantageous, but the big solid and flat ground interface means that if its not resting on mostly level and evenly dense surface, they can pivot and be unsteady. i mostly use jack stands at the track and we usually end up in the grass. its level, but..its dirt, not asphalt, and the big flat bottom surface of those stands is a no-go there. also, the actual area they cover versus the 4-legged versions is much smaller, meaning the load has more effective leverage if side-loaded. think about how hard you can pull on a 1/2" ratchet - pulling a car off stands isn't that hard...DAMHIK.

too much pollution of the deals thread - sorry folks.

You're right. we are talking past each other. I would totally avoid those jacks on dirt, unless you had them resting on something hard (whatever that is).

I posted this in a separate thread, but...

Yost 204 vise for $130
Yost 205 vise for $170
Yost 206 vise for $300

http://www.waltcotoolsinc.com/closeouts.aspx?page=2

These are fantastic prices for these 60,000 PSI ductile iron US-made vises. Get 'em while you can. Watch out for the shipping, it defaults to overnight which is VERY expensive. Select UPS Ground, which is very reasonable.
