just dropped quite a bit on the Beta tools. well, not really. Bought all 75% off stuff, but great deals. Bunch of loose sockets and a 15 piece reversible watching MM wrench set. Don' treally need them but tough to pass up upgrading craftsman sockets or gear wrenches for Beta. Smokin deals.
Ha Ha. I got in on the Beta stuff just before Stuey posted his post. I picked up a 3/4" breaker bar (5 still left), Buffer Dolly (1 still left) & a half moon SAE box wrench (all gone). Total cost with tax was $50.63. Not bad at all.
So Stuey, how do you track this stuff? Back in early February, I built a macro in Firefox using iMacros that would automatically add item to cart and then set the item to 'save for later'. I then would just go into the cart every day and it would tell me which ones have changed price. (I have over 200 items saved for later in my cart right now.) I tired out TheTracktor but I never got the emails for anything in a timely manner. Usually I found the prices would drop around 6 pm CST which is strange because I would expect them to change over night.
Once I get this next round, we need a show us your Beta thread. Some of their stuff seems excellent while some not so much. All of it was overpriced until it got down to at least 50% off. I still have not seen good picks of the Super Trolleys that looks so odd.

My methods vary. In this case, I had a few Beta items in my Amazon cart, and when I checked it it showed that several of them dropped in price by quite a bit. I then did a manual check and saw that the ~75% reduction in price was widespread.
I then searched for other reduced brands, and came across an uncommon German-brand of pliers at ~50% off. So I then checked for other brands I'd been interested in in the past, including Lindstrom. I then noticed the Lindstrom price drop and a few Wiha pliers that dropped in price.
Then I did some more manual searching and saw the Vaughan hammer for $9.
I haven't seen any good Super Trolley deals either, although I remember it dropped to maybe $1200 before being sold out.
The best deal I've ever found on Beta tools was the tool cabinet I snagged for $20. That's what I tipped the delivery guys for carrying it up 3 flights of stairs.
So yea, my methods are usually mostly manual. Amazon's prices shift in unpredictable ways that aren't always reported properly, so it's difficult to keep track of things automatically.
Every now and then I check some bookmarked links (as shown here http://toolguyd.com/2010/08/amazon-pb-swiss-beta-tools-on-sale/ and described in the very first post of this thread.), but manual checking for brands or tools of interest is what works best for me.
hehe. I kept flip-flopping about whether I needed to buy one, but decided to save 'em for others that may want them more. Figured that if they were still around tomorrow morning I'd pick one of 'em up.Do you really need to ask?

Funny that I was looking at it, but since I have about 20 vise grips, I picked up 2a different sized groove pliers.

haha. I am guilty for 1 of the sets. Also picked up another size tongue and groove on its own as well. Practically every opn socket I bought said 1 or 2 left. I made a big dent in the available items list with my order. Probably 15 items that should have been the last one left.
For price tracking at amazon, I have been trying www.mypricetrack.com. It tracks price changes to any item on my wishlist into an RSS feed that I keep up with using my RSS reader (I just use google reader on my igoogle homepage). I haven't caught any steals with it yet, but when any prices change, it does update the RSS feed with the new and old price of anything in my wish list (which is more of a "keep track of it list"). If something drops enough, I'll know to go buy it

Sears professional screw drivers deal.
The Sears near me is re-organizing the tool section and has some of the professional screw drivers in the clearance bin. 39.99 set for 24.00 and some singles. Not all of the professional set's are in there. I'm not sure if this is the same at all of the Sears stores.

Sorry to be disingenuous, the grinders on the page are free if you buy discs or wheels with them. If you use them a lot, it is a really good deal.

Looks like Lowes pulled the plug on the 2 pack of Bosch grinders for $69 online. I was still able to pick it up in store for $89. Still a good deal IMO
Never bought from Lowes online before, could this scenario work? If I use the $10 off coupon on the grinders and choose pick up in store could I then use the 10% movers coupon when I pick them up or do they have to be paid for online first?

Does anyone know why Sears runs a lot of 'online only' discounts? I mean, the days of promoting your website for brick-and-mortar stores are long since over. What is the point of making the discounts online only, especially when you're always going to order online and pick up in store if possible to avoid shipping costs? It's not a big deal I guess, I just don't understand why they do it.
When I first experienced this I bought a tool at Sears but the price did not come up with what I didn't realize was an online only discount. I walked over with the salesperson to a web terminal and showed them the price online, but they said "Oh that's online only". I replied "Well, I can just place the order at this terminal and pick it up here at the store, so why not just give the price here and make it easy?".
Ten minutes after placing the order online and getting the discount, I walked 30 paces down the hall to the pickup area, got the item, and left the store. Shaking my head.

I've got quite a few in my inbox that I'll sort through later.
A lot of the products are not carried in store. But my guess is it's done b/c the web and B&M entities are run differently. Have you ever tried to price match at Home Depot? The managers will tell you that HomeDepot.com is separate and not a competitor, so they won't price match.

Went to Sears the other day, and could find any of these in the clearance section. Was looking at wrenches and, low and behold, there was a package of the tapes laying by themselves o nthe bottom shelf. I took them to the cashier and had him scan them... $3.97.

I got my Bosch grinders today, they FedEx'd them all the way from two towns over. Very pleased with that deal.
Roto Ratchets aren't part of this little Gearwrench sale, but you can find them under the Kobalt brand at Cripe Distributing for about $35/pair shipped.
The 49pc kit is $25, same as it was a year ago during the half off Gearwrench promotion, and a better kit IMO. Near as I can tell, the difference is in the bigger set includes a bunch of screwdriver bits and one less ratchet. I can't get a link to work but they should be available in store.

Most (not all) of the Sears online-only promos are because the item isn't stocked in the store. Two examples I can think of are the 25 piece Pro screwdriver set and the 5 piece Pro pry bar set. I had to order both online since they aren't stocked in any store.
As for the items that ARE in the stores - well, I think we've pretty much established that Sears marketing is just generally screwed up.

No problem! I saw notice for PopSci and thought to check if the promo was eligible on PopMech as well.
Yes, it is auto renewal by default, but once the subscription is processed you can disable the auto-renewal from the Amazon magazine subscription setting in your user account page. I did that with all my subs (maybe 5?)

Can't see anything oversize about it.
Don't seem like a bad price if the shipping code "LABORDAYSHIP" applied, without this oversize BS.
Description is not real good either, don't show just what pliers are included. I think those dykes and needle nose, cobra , (10" I am guessing) linemens pliers, are about $20.00 - $25.00 each if brought separate.

My local Ace Hardware had cans of the Ace Enamel paint on sale for $1.99.
Don't know if it's all of the Ace hardware's.
As a side note they pissed me off with there attitude. Copied from another post.
I lost my 13mm gearwrench so they had one for "$6.50"
Rang up at $10.60. Mentioned it to the cashier, she just looked at me.
I went back to the shelf and showed the stock boy, and showed him my receipt, He said "Oh thats not it"
They were in the wrong spot.
I went up and told the cashier, she just looked at me again.
I think it was the owner there too, I told him, just looked at me.
I said thats OK.
When I got to my car, I said "NO"
Took it back in and made her credit my card.
If they had said " Sorry about that sir" or something, instead of acting like they didn't give a ****, I would have kept it.
After they issued me credit, and handed me my receipt,
I told her "Thank you, Sorry for the trouble"
She didn't say one word.
I didn't like the way they were acting.

Got the same type of attitude at a local ace that had just opened up about a coupon that they had mailed out for their grand opening. A co-worker of mine got the same type of crappy customer service as well. About a year later they liquidated everything and closed up. Funny thing is that same worker that waited on me and my co worker is probably wondering why they closed.
