Try 02169... not sure if that'll really help you get it for that price though.

Thanks! Found it, and yes it will, they match prices of any Lowes store as long as you have a print out of the price and they can confirm it. Now I just need to figure out if I really need it?

Yes, yes you do! This baby is quiet. Although not as powerful as I thought it would be, takes quite a while to fill up. But i use this in my home garage, so the noise difference alone was worth the upgrade from my oilless 30 gal craftsman.

Nice.

120 15 amps with the option of going to 220 if you move/rewire.

I don't have a 20 amp option at the moment. This just might get bought.

The ace I went to today had two different types of 7" vice grips (straight and curved jaw) for $4.99 a piece.

I don't know if it is nation wide though.

The previously mentioned Kobalt 4pc locking pliers set ($10) are different stampings than their other locking pliers, and not part of the standard planogram. I wouldn't count on them being around very long, so if you want some very cheap soft grip locking pliers without taking the boat to Harbor Freight, you'll find these in a freestanding cardboard display. These do not appear to be made by Irwin for Lowes.

I did actually buy a few sets of these myself, since you can never really have too many vise grips for some projects. I'm not immediately dissatisfied with them; they seem well-enough made, with jaws that line up correctly and not too much flashing on the poly grips. They won't be my go-to vise grips by a long shot, that seat is reserved for Grip-On/Snap-On, but they'll do a fine job when called on, I'm sure.

If you're near a Hobby Lobby, they have USA Made Excel Hobby Knives for 50% off.

I picked up a #5 knife and extra blades for under $5.

That Kobalt compressor shows up as $183.60 for me. Just ordered one. Slightly less (like less than half a CFM) then what I have now, but higher pressure and bigger tank.

Jeez the price of that thing is all over the place depending on what store you enter. I see it from $275 to $459 (the $275 is an outlier price, most are $375 and up) at area stores where I live.

Called my local store. They wont price match for a store that far away.
That PA store wont shop all the way over here either. Good price, but its out of my reach.

It is now showing $459.00 even when shopping the store in the zip code mentioned earlier.

Told my brother about this deal since I already have a compressor. They price matched a Philadelphia store and he bought his in Charlotte, NC. So they should do it no matter the distance. He got it for 183.50+ tax

Can you elaborate or point to the Good vs Bad info? I had not heard this. How do you know these are the good ones?

Nevermind: I found it.

It is indeed a sad state of affairs when we are hunting down tools because they are made in Taiwan.

CHINATIZATION...

taiwan is a chinese state.... just like puerto rico to usa

Yep those were pretty much my thoughts on them. :)

Ummm,no. Taiwan is a separate country like the US and Cuba although China would like to take them over.

It's more complicated than that. Which is why relations with those countries are so fraught. It's a more analogous situation to the US never having reconciled after the Civil War and both the North and South are claiming to be the "real America". (Wait... that's scarily close to current political rhetoric, but that's a digression)

Ummm, no. The U.S. has no legal claim to Cuba, so it is more akin to the United States and Puerto Rico's relationship.

Actually I am pretty sure we have the same claim to Cuba as PR since the Spanish American war. Hell we have a military base on Cuba!

Well, I just drove over with print outs. They told be they don't have to price match for a PA store (too far) + it wasn't "open stock." Apparently, thats some sort of important variable. I rebutted with the other prices around the W Philly store in the two hundreds. They did knock off some of the price, so I got it for $265. I went for it.

Not surprisingly (to me) it seems to be manager-specific. I did the same thing and the employee on the floor said 'no problem, we will match'. When he called the manager over, he checked the price on his phone and said it was coming up at 459 at the W. Philly store. Not sure why that was happening for him, but he said maybe they sold out and then the price was marked up on the web :dunno:

Was just talking with them a little bit about other things and eventually the manager says 'Ok I'll match the price'. I think it really pays to be civil with these things, if he turned it down I wouldn't have pitched a fit. If it was a store across the street, different story but this one was far away (I live in NC).

Maybe the flexible matching is only done in NC

Good luck to anyone else that tries this. BTW, right now it still shows as 183 on the website for the W. Philly store so I'm not sure what the store manager was looking at on his phone. Almost makes me wonder if their mobile site (which presumably his phone accessed) does not work the same as the regular website.

It probably helped that my local store's price for it was 275 - every other store in this area had it for much higher. Not sure why Lowe's has so much variance on clearance pricing. I almost thought I was in Sears :D

Glad to hear it. Frankly, I'm ok with $265. Thats a lot of compressor to buy for that money. If you guys get it for $185, great! I would agree that your stores starting $275 price had something to do with it. All the other stores around here are way higher than $300. Next lowest is $365, and the rest are in the $400's. I figured the best place to negotiate was the place that was already low at $300.

Wow who knew that my single compressor deal post would cause this many responses. Very strange that Lowe's isn't uniform on their pricing. I just checked online the 5 closest stores to where I live. All of these are within 10-15 miles of my house, so all are reasonably close...

Amherst, NH - $364.65
Bedford, NH - $459.00
Manchester, NH - $235.95
S. Nashua, NH - $364.65
Hooksett, NH - $321.75

I already have the compressor but if anyone is in the southern NH area it would pay to print out the price from Manch I guess.

Agree, at $265 that is a good price for the compressor. Just barely enough room underneath it to put a 90* bend on it to run a short tube out. Was a little concerned about that, since I will not be making a palette for it as I need it to be semi-mobile.

griff99, thanks a ton for the heads up!

Picked up my Kobalt 1.6 HP 30-Gallon 155 PSI Electric Air Compressor
Item #: 221495 for $183.60 - out the door including sales tax I got just over $3 change for my two hundreds. 60% off is a VERY sweet deal!

I can post pictures later tonight if anyone wants to see them.

I was able to take advantage of the 1.6hp 30gal Kobalt compressor deal too. Took me three trips, but I got it with a print-out showing the Exeter, PA store's numbers (store #2819) at the same price as the other guys, $183.60 plus tax. Another guy who overheard me talking with the manager took advantage of the deal too, lucky dog. Big thanks to bas157 and griff99.

Now I just need more of everything to go with it.

I called my local store and they wouldn't match the price. They said they would only match prices with stores in their district :(

Pricing near Philly is weird on the compressor. I bought from the store in Oaks, PA and did a store pickup this afternoon. I think they only had a floor model left after I got mine. The price marked on the floor is also $183.

My brother ordered 2 (one for him and a friend) from another nearby store that online showed 3 in stock. He got down there and after about 25 minutes they told him they can't find him. He was rather annoyed at that! He called another nearby store that also showed 3 available but they wouldn't match the price from the store 35 minutes away! So the store he ordered them for pickup at is supposed to be going to pickup 2 from that non-pricematching store to sell to my brother at $183.

So price-matching is definately YMMR on this deal. Some people are matching from hours and hours away and one wouldn't match from 35 minutes away!

It seems to be a Sanborn compressor based on some of the paperwork. The model it is being replaced with seems cheaper (plastic wheels instead of inflatable rubber, plastic belt guard instead of metal). "Assembled with pride in the USA", motor is from China, didn't notice where the other parts are from, but probably China.

The box is large and it comes filled with oil so the box says to keep upright. Box is ~49 inches tall and it weights 169 pounds, VERY top heavy so get help loading it! 3 would be best, 2 on the bottom and one to keep it from falling back or forward (depending on which side the compressor is on).

Thanks to the person who first posted about this deal!

That's why it took me three trips, two to get a manager who would approve it and a third to pick it up.
