Not only canceled, but Cabela's added insult to injury by carbon-copying 297 email addresses in their cancellation email. Not very swift. Now some folks are replying-all and expressing their displeasure. Kind of comical.

This is why I use transaction-specific throw-away emails for most everything. My email for this one was cabelas20110919@[mydomain].com. Now I just bitbucket that address and don't have to worry about it.

I got one of the response emails this morning and was thinking, "Wtf is this?" when I saw all the email addresses openly displayed.

Makes me wonder if the link hadn't been slickdeal'd, if it would have actually worked for a couple people. Slickdeals guys have a notorious habit of blowing asnine stuff up just because it's on sale and wind up ruining it for everyone else. Wouldn't surprise me if most of them couldn't qualify for that "Hoarders" show.

I never got as far as ordering.. I entered my credit card info, hit submit and "****" your cart is empty and then it wasn't available to re-add.

This site gets that way too at times. These deals don't last long, because hundreds, if not thousands of people ordering a too-good-to-be-true deal on an item that rarely sells sets off all kinds of alarms. On the one hand it's awesome that people share, on the other, pretty often it probably kills the deals for the people that share it (people who got in on the ground floor so to speak). So I commend them for sharing at all -- thanks! It's freakin awesome for the deals that go through.

Like the people on here who order 20 sets of files/compressors/whatever is on sale for "Christmas gifts"......:lol_hitti:bounce:

The DeWalt drill isn't "normally" $229. That's the MSRP.

It's normally just over $120. $78.22 is the lowest price ever on Amazon for the drill, however. About $85 was the previous low.

Yeah, based on the price tracking history, it doesn't seem likely it will go much over $85-90 tops any time soon. $78 is the lowest, but not by as much as they would have you believe.

Mike, I think I got on the email list in the wrong ways. By having an Amazon account, it tracks what I search for and will send me emails based on that. I was looking up corded drills one day, and since then I get daily emails about them.
Do a search for corded drills. You'll find great deals on whatever you're looking for.
Quick note, the one I posted it an older model. The newer model is also on sale there for like $20 more. Don't know any difference.

Here's a DeWalt I picked up today, the DW717 double-bevel sliding compound miter saw. Normally $474 at Lowe's (marked down from $499), but I searched online and found a somewhat local Lowe's store that had it at $349.30. That was the absolute best price I'd found on one that wasn't a refurb and it was still cheaper than what a lot of the refurbs were selling for.

Link to search

Called the store in Dickson to verify and was told by the guy in the tool dept that they were on clearance because they're changing inventory.

I got the Lowe's in Hopkinsville, KY to price match the Dickson, TN store and paid KY's 6% sales tax vs. TN's 9.5%. Normally Lowe's will also give 10% off when they price match but they didn't. They also wouldn't give the normal 10% off we get for the military discount. If I had made the purchase in Dickson I'd have gotten the 10% military, paid the 9.5% sales tax, and would have had to drive an hour each way to get it.

So, considering I had researched and decided on this saw, I'm happy to get it at the $130 discount I did.

If you're in the market for such a saw, might want to keep your eyes on the prices at your local Lowe's. Seems they're about to switch up their stock.

This is maybe a little off topic, and maybe old news, but just making sure everyone who reads this thread is aware of Tracktor for Amazon, where you can track prices of tools you're watching. Buy them when they're low.

http://thetracktor.com/

Apologies to everyone who is thoroughly aware already.

Costco is clearing out some stock and selling their 195 pc Crescent tool set for $55. Maybe because Stanley and Craftsman are coming in but its a great buy.

Also they are clearing out Whalen tool chests and workbench's. One by me sold their last Whalen workbench (open box) for $60!

Each store is different but I expect by end of the month they will clear this stuff out.

No offense but that Crescent set is just another collection of China. If you want cheap, you can get as much if not more Pittsburg and it would be better.

I've been told Crescent ratcheting wrenches and those cased tool sets are being discontinued, replaced by Gearwrench in the supply line since Cooper and Danaher became Apex. I think it's a good thing too, those generic imports Crescent was pushing are of questionable quality at best. $55 isn't a bad price compared to other import sets, but it isn't a great tool either. You can do better with Stanley or a dozen other makes.

That Crescent set is made in Taiwan if it makes a difference. They had a Stanley black chrome for set for $75 but it was made in China.

If that Crescent set was made in China i would have passed.

I purchased a set of those Crescents about 4 years ago for the shop hands to use in a Truck & Trailer facility and they have beat the snot out of it and everything still in good shape. I just lubed the ratchets about a month ago and was surprised they are still holding up.

This guy is listing these again.

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SNAP-PLI...otive_Tools&hash=item19c9081349#ht_500wt_1156

I have no connection to seller. but i had a good experience with previous purchase.

How long did it take you to receive your items?

Is it any surprise that Sears is in trouble, with morons like that running the stores? :wtf:

Nope, the two closest to me morons also run the stores and stooges work the floors.

Who would have ever thought that Kmart, after coming out of Bankruptcy, would have enough cash to buy Sears and the Craftsman brand?
I think I teared up a lil bit that day and sadly they've managed to not only nose dive their own store but ALL of the brands they own. Someone should really buy Sears back and return it to its former Glory.

I always do merch PU and only go into the store to return tools, it seems to be the best and least painful way to go!

Those sets are actually made in Taiwan, Stanley sells something very similar [probably the same manufacturer] and for $50-$60 they make an excellent assortment of easily portable tools.

The set i have has your basic combo wrench sizes, 1/4 and 3/8 in std and metric, 2 ratchets, few extensions, screwdriver/hex/ and torx bits all in a box about the size of a brief case. Nice on the go/portable box.

Lowes has a set of two Knipex Cobra's (one in a 7" and one a 10") on for $29.97 for both

Lowes Part number 333852

I found them on the electrical aisle, not in the tool section. The same section has Wiha, Greenlee and Klein tools stuff in limited selection.

One pair of Knipex Cobra 10" ers runs $22, one 7" runs $26, so the $29.97 for both is a pretty good price compared to buying them individually (local to me anyway)

The part number doesn't show up online, but next time you're at Lowes check the electrical aisle.

It might be a fluke, or an old item etc, but there was one left and I'm going to snag it tomorrow ;)

This is an 'old' deal. Some people were able to get them for like $17 at some point I think. My lowes has been out of the 2 pack for months. Doesn't seem like they are restocking much of what knipex stuff gets sold either...

The good news is that if they are still there you might get them for a much lower price than $29. Even at $29 they are worth it but you might get a *very* good deal.
