However, once you tack on shipping charges of $8.95 it actually comes out to being more expensive than Amazon's pricing w/free shipping.

That was not the case with my order. I double checked before purchasing and Chad's was cheaper than Amazon after adding the shipping charges. I ended up saving $12 on my purchase over Amazon.

But, if I had only bought one item, then Amazon would be cheaper.

(Gearwrench SAE non-reversible non-flex $4 @Lowes)
I don't know if that's anything to jump over, Advance or Ace almost always have a 5pc kit for $20 and Home Depot has their 5pc kits (Husky, carded) down to $15-16 right now. It's not a bad price by far, but seems fairly regular.

But some us cheapskates might only be looking for one as a replacement. :bounce:

Milwaukee fork meter + drill/driver kit for $99 (details via TG) - several retailers have it at this price, don't know what's going on.

Irwin metric adjustable wrench set - still going at $15.

Some of these deals are still going strong. I received the ESD screwdriver set that I ordered, and I am definitely satisfied with them, especially for under $20.

Wera Zyklop deals - price went up on the 3/8", but the orders are still low priced and stilla vailable for purchase despite being backordered 2-4 weeks.

Warning: something screwy is going on with Amazon's 3rd party sellers (again).

Earlier today I ordered a SOG knife and a CRKT knife from "GPSCheap" for >50% off. Looked strange but they had low pricing on a lot of items.

Please accept our apologies, on October 3rd, 2011 we experienced a technical issue that impacted our pricing on Amazon.com for a large number of items.

Unfortunately, the pricing on your order was erroneously listed therefore your order is going to be canceled.

We have since resolved the issue on Amazon.com.

Again, please accept our sincere apologies.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly.

So the issue that we saw last week is happening with other sellers. =(

So be aware of this if you see products sold by 3rd party vendors that look too good to be true.

I stopped at Lowe's today and they had all their Kobalt (made in china) taps on clearance for about 60% off. Individual taps with corresponding drill bit were about $3 all the way up to 1/2-13. They also had tap/drill bit/die kits on clearance. I picked up a SAE set with fine and coarse thread for $28. MSRP is $69.

Scott,

There are two of the same part-no listed there. I'm assuming the top one should be D213-9NE

Klein Tools D213-9NE 9-Inch High Leverage Side Cutting Plier $26.46

Thanks for spotting/fixing that error.

That package is exactly what I need.

THIS?

Bosch 18-Volt Litheon Cordless Compact Drill & Impactor Driver Combo Kit

Item #: 176037 | Model #: CLPK23-180
This item is no longer available on Lowes.com.

I looked it up on Slickdeals, its strictly B&M and VERY YMMV, showing up for many as $160 for demo units.

Just bought it myself at a local Lowes for $55.36.

$300ish reg price at Lowes, $225 all say at Amazon.

Receipt below.

EDIT: They had 3.... mine still had straps on it. Guess I could have bought the other 2 for FleaBay or CraigsList... but I'd rather see people get a steal.

LOL. I bet this is how Lowe's solved the whole store price-matching problem they had with the compressors. Just mark it as unavailable on the web site, then each store can continue to have widely varying clearance prices. I still don't understand why their clearance prices vary so widely, but I do understand what they're doing now.

A store manager told me it was based upon store sales. Find a store in a crappy neighborhood that sells few tools and you're gonna be more likely to find a deal...

I called 3 stores, the guy at the 2nd store looked up the inventory for all the stores in my "district" and only one store had them in stock. I called them and they wanted 200 for it still. Oh well, maybe i'll try the next county over...I'll be up in San Clemente this weekend anyway

I found one locally after calling about 5 stores. One store gave me stock count on the surrounding stores so that helped.

Is it still worth it at $79? Yes and no I suppose

Lets see, normally $280 or so, would sell on ebay if you didn't like it used for maybe $160 (double what you paid), nah, too chancy, best to just post the location of the store that had them for $79 so the temptation is removed.

Don't think so. There are a LOT of Lowe's local to my area and for that compressor every single one of them had it +/- $25 of $400. Only one store had it for like $249, and they matched the $183. For the Bosch drill, this same store has the last one they have for $159. I mean, you would think that would be the difference in the pricing but that is not what I noticed at all - doing some searches around the place I grew up, which is an economic nightmare, shows no break for clearance pricing at all.

Who knows what their logic is, or if they are even using any kind of logic. But I am pretty sure they solved the whole store price-mach thing by just pulling the item from their website so that tells me they know when there is disparate clearance pricing going on amongst their stores. Not saying it's stupid/bad for them to do it, but it does make me curious as to why they do it.

Most of the Bosch drivers at Lowes I saw are running a free battery promotion, its an even better deal if you can score the package for $79 plus a free battery
