I'd be all for a "hot deals" subforum. Posters could just create threads with the item and seller, like "Gearwrench specials at Sears", or "Home Depot coupon codes", et al.

Plus 1 on separate thread for deals.

hearing all the little details about a canceled order is tedious and boring.

im beginning to feel the same way about posts whining about how there is too much OT and not enough deals. Why dont some of you contribute instead of complaining.

haha, thanks. In cart....time to check out. Maybe I will see what else there is. damn this thread!! at least the wiha did **** me in. Sears and pickup the next day is just to tempting.

I actually like the non reverse-able ones a lot better. I have some reverse-able ones and don't like how you can only get on the fastener from one side and they always flip from tighten to loosen on me.

But the real question is only metric or sae as well? I rarely really use SAE stuff

Yeah. I hear ya, but for $28.61 I couldn't pass it.
Had to Hold my other hand down to keep from getting the SAE too.
Now I have the reverse-able ones too, and I know what you mean about "how you can only get on the fastener from one side".
There were a few times I would have liked to approach the fastener with the other side of the wrench, But I don't seem to mind it too much now, and has not caused a problem as of yet.
Do not seem to have the "flip from tighten to loosen on me" problem that I recall.
I have been "going to" these wrenches more and more.

No I don't use SAE too much either. Have some older woodworking equipment and my Logan lathe that are SAE.
But I have the Armstrong set that was going around a while back, from e bay here at the house.
Never know though, didn't pick up my metrics yet, still might add the SAE to the cart. ...............LOL
Could have got the $5.00 off though doing it all at once.

Beat me to it, If you dont like the chit chat, then quit checking the thread.

Personally I would hate a deals only section. That would jsut mean more threads to check. Whats it take? 2 whole minutes to skim through 2-3 pages

Just checking in to the " I didn't get my SK ratchet" thread for the day. Can we all just move on. If you got one great. If not too bad. This deal had been beat to death.

IDK I guess the chit chat pisses some people off, and don't bother others.
I pretty well fall into the 2nd. group.
It takes me all of 2 seconds or less to skim over the post to tell If I want to read it or not.
Guess we are all different though.
BTY this new PC is nice, the "Smiles" beside the reply box are not running my processor fan to death the way my old system did.

I posted all the info i did because of the issues i was having with several "great deals" going south after I made a purchase. I thought it may help someone else out or give a heads up.

I like the feedback after a deal is posted. I think it's helpful to see what is happening with other people's purchases.

It seems like there have been more posts complaining in the last day than posts about the Grainger SK deal.

Congrats, one whole page free of any deals with just whining and chit chat. Why not save it and read it over and over again?

We have had a couple threads about putting hot deals in its own section, and it didn't fly.

Tooltopia has 3 packs of Amflo PVC 3/8 x 50' air hose for $27, was a little cheaper, but thats pretty cheap for 3 rolls. Mine still sitting in cart waiting on $99 free shipping.

I agree, the chit chat does not bother me and it also kinda helps on what deals are working and what ones are not.

Just keep scrolling to the next deal is not a big deal to me.

AR15.com has a HORRIBLE deal thread where you cant do any chit chat and it gets locked all the time for people bitching about deals.

I like this how its open and flowing

Someone mentioned Home Depot blowing out the Vaughan products last Spring. The one item that never went on sale was the builders hatchet. Until now. $17 down from $32.

I saw those today as well, I can see where having a hatchet would be handy in general, but I'm not sure I get the "builders hatchet" name, are thosed used in remodeling?

I think these are used by shinglers - think cedar shingls. The ax will split the shingle lengthwise. The hammer will drive the nails. There's even a groove used to pull a nail - presumably if you mess up and split a shingle while nailing.

I get what your saying and they seemed pretty stout, but as a roofing hatchet it seems kind of old skool to me. But then again I dont see many cedar shingles being used around here either.

+1 on the chit chat. I appreciate peoples opinions on things that they've owned and I would have not bothered on the Wiha deal and missed out on owning a set of SUPER srewdrivers.

Its also nice to know where/how a deal is working and when it's not, even if that means skimming over a few dozen threads of people griping about getting the shaft.

OK is it me or do you get a LOT of sockets in this GW set for the money? showing $17.09 for me this minute

Gearwrench 3/8" and 1/4" socket set, 51 sockets, 2 ratchets, one universal joint adapter and 2 extensions.

How do you guys know where to find these things and what the regular price is?

:bounce:

Because everyone knows they are just rebadged Snap-On fitsall universal style replacement oil pan drain plugs. The free shipping is good but HF has them even cheaper, and especially if you use the 20% off coupon.

... but then again, the HF ones probably leak 8/

I heard that the reason the gearwrench flexheads and xbeams were so cheap is because they are rolling out there new line of full polished reversable combination upsidedown flex head adjustable wrench sets, with wings.

It's an error on the Sears site. The site says it is a gearwrench universal joint #80549. They're showing an incorrect picture of a socket set.

If you order it, this is what you'll probably get:

those are down to $11 near me. i was tempted to grab one but i don't see much of a need for it for me so i'm going to chance waiting out on a lower price. there was still quite a few so its worth a shot. won't be bummed if they're all gone before i get a chance at em cheaper

Lowes has "Deal of the Day" Dewalt DW718 miter saw for $379 but checkout does not work for the item.

http://www.lowes.com/ Look for "Deal of the Day" banner on the top right of webpage.

Can anyone get deal of the day at Lowes.com to work all the way to checkout?
