Anyone know if sears online orders can be returned in-store if its not an instore stocked item? I would hate to pay return shipping for what im about to order if its wrong.

I have returned several items to my closest store which is really an appliance store that carries some tools. Some of these items were not items they carried (one of the reasons they were shipped to me rather than store pickup) and I don't remember getting dinged for these items on return......I don't see this in the return policy either.

a bit old of a topic on this thread, but today I went to grainger and picked up my SK flex ratchet, the 16.** one. originally they did not charge me, but then randomly they did one day and I emailed them and they apologized and told me it was waiting for me to pick up. communication is a bit poor for a large company but in the end it worked out.

Someone already posted about the Dickies clearance at http://www.dickies.com/sale/clearance.jsp
USE COUPON CODE Dickies15 for another 15% off! No other coupon code worked for me with the clearance items, but Dickies15 got me another 15% off. I picked up a couple jackets for myself, and some pants and shirts for my dad's upcoming birthday, he loves Dickies wear. With the free shipping to boot it's hard to beat some of those deals.

Are the prybars on sale at sears for $19.99 curved tip or straight, like a giant screwdriver? The description and picture say curved but the title on the page says "Craftsman 3 pc. Screwdriver Pry Bar Set in tray ". Kinda hard to use a curved tip as a screwdriver, isn't it?

My local ACE hardware has a number of Stanley items with rebates that bring the final cost down to $1.99, including a FatMax 25' tape measure, 3 pc wood chisel set, and 10 pc screwdriver set. Plus, if you are an Ace Rewards member, you can claim the discount online (no need to mail it in).

Also, they had a sign at the register saying that Ace offers a 10% discount to active military, police, and fire personnel with ID. I knew they offered the discount to military, but didn't know they extended it to police and fire as well.

Not sure if any of this is regional, so YMMV.

If you are talking about the ones linked below they are curved. I picked them up yesterday and they are very nice.

Have you received some recently? Been wanting to pull the trigger on these for a while but the full polish and not pro name has me hesitant. I know my local store still has one sae and metric 5 piece set left of the pro's. Granted you get the two extra metrics with this one.

Hey Smitty,

I scored a set of these about a month ago.

They are indeed USA made and after a thorough inspection flawless in fit and finish.

I might have gotten the only set that looks this good, or the last of the USA made sets, but I wouldn't think so.

FWIW...

They're probably one of the best finished wrenches Sears carries today. I have a set, they're great for working on brakes, they've saved my bacon quite a few times.

I'm really pissed the Sears. I ordered the pry bars, extensions, screwdrivers and u joints. I got the pry bars and screwdrivers but not the extensions and u joints. When they said they were out of stock I walked over and looked on the shelf, guess what I found? They also took off the $5 and charged me $24.99 for the screwdrivers when they were $21.24 in the cart. Good luck getting anywhere with management.

I'd jump on those Kobalt cross-form wrenches at that price, but I don't really need a cross form 8-12mm.

It's more or less easier on the hands, because you're pushing the side of your palm against something flat, opposed to upright pressing into your hand. I can't speak about the lenght, they're vary compared to other wrenches.

I don't need em, but I ordered them anyway. :lol_hitti

See this to find a coupon for instant 10% off of Lowe's. Used it online right away for these.

Ahh, but I get the employee discount!

Atleast your credit card bill stayed the same, AND you got more wrenches! :lol_hitti

How are those multi fit ones? I want them, but they seem more or less gimmicky, just because of the finish, it seems like a LOOK HERE WE'RE DIFFERENT! I kinda want the metric sockets in multi fit, but they only exist in deep. I want shallow, I'd be 3 times as impressed if they were Metrinch, now that's a set I'd love to get my hands on.

Does Lowes do this every year with the Kobalt line, or is this a sign they're making a production shift again? I really like the current Kobalt line, so I hope it continues to be available.

Meanwhile, I also ordered both CrossForm... also no use for them but for $15 what the heck :)

Technically I did a return and two new purchases, so there might be a change in CC bill.

Craftsman offers that style in shallow sockets - http://toolguyd.com/2010/10/craftsman-launches-new-line-of-universal-sockets/ and wrenches.

I wouldn't have bought these in Metrinch - those sockets are typically too floppy and loose.

This is the new line. They literally just launched the new mechanics hand tools a couple of months ago. That's why these sale prices are so unexpected.

They probably don't sell well and are gonna be discontinued, my guess.

Our store has no plans (that I know of) to clearance the wrenches, it's all pretty new stock for us. I might buy the cross beam metrics though, why the hell not!

I just can't imagine myself really straining enough on 8-13mm sockets where I have enough clearance to invest in a set of cross beams though.

Are those craftsman pry bars on sale tomorrow as well? I'd like to replace my unused ( made in India) hf pry bars.

And those cross form wrenches might make a cool gift as well.

I'm trying so hard not to buy the crossforms, but I just don't know if they're worth it, literally, when will a 8-13mm ish bolt be so over torques i have the clearance to use a crossform.

Maybe I'm just trying to convince myself! Metric or SAE? :)

how do you make butcher block because thats how its made. Its laminated wood, always has been. If it was a single solid piece of wood cut from 1 piece of timber it would cost a fortune.

You are right and wrong at the same time.
Real butcher bock, like the table in a butcher shop, is made from short pieces of wood. HOWEVER, the grain is vertical, not horizontal.

When a butcher chops meat, he chops in the same direction as the grain, not across it. The table lasts much, much longer this way.

However, it's one of those words that is used incorrectly almost every time, and the meaning is being diluted. Engine/motor, concrete/cement...

I picked up my CMan pry bars today. They are really nice.
I also got the 12' tape measure (it's great for small projects) and the screw extractors.

The extra 15% off ends today according to the Sears site. It may still be on sale for $19.99 -I don't know. I'd grab it tonight - you won't be disappointed.
