I hate this thread!

In for one of these, and decided to bite on the polished combo wrenches as well! Heck, I might even order the Wiha hex keys at the kiosk while I'm in store... :willy_nil

This seems like a good deal - 1/4" SK 13 pc palm control ratchet with 6-pt metric sockets (set 91813). $29.97 on clearance. Looks like this is a pre-Ideal set. Can anyone confirm that?

Same set is $68.50 at Tool Warehouse.

I suspect you're right on it being pre-Ideal, since that's not a valid item number on SK's site now.

I snagged the same set from ebay for about the same price and I've been real happy with it. I noticed a while back Sears had the matching SAE set too, and it comes with a couple extra goodies (u-joint and 3/8" adapter).

Just fyi, I went and purchased two of the tape measure/level sets as I needed both tape measure and level. Like a dummy I just grabbed them and didn't think to check the scale on the blade. Got home and found one scale for SAE and the other side metric, which is a no-go for me. I need SAE on both scales.

So they will go back this week. I really wanted to get in on the 16' tape deal as my understanding is it was all SAE scale and 16' is just fine for in-shop projects, but none of the stores have any of those left in stock.

I then went to amazon to order just the levels and of course they are back to regular price near as I can tell.

Oh well, three strikes and I'm out.

My problem with the blade that comes with the tape deal is the rubber tips, they are too close together and grip the blade as you are trying to install a new blade. I didn't get it for the blade though

Went to menards to check out the killer 56" box deal, but it figures it was full price at my Menards

Canon S95 digicam for $229 free one-day shipping.

Not a tool-deal, but I've been eyeing this cam for a loooong time, and was just really excited to see it priced so low.

A few months ago the price was still too high, so I purchased a waterproof camera. The quality has been lacking, so the S95 went back to my wishlist. I spent way too much this month already, but don't know if I can pass this up!

Do the kobalt sockets have the high visibility easy read labeling like the craftsman? I can't see **** anymore so this has become a requirement on any future sockets I buy.

Thanks

IMO the 51-piece is a better deal at $19.98. It comes with more 6-point 1/4 sockets than two of those at $12, plus a ratchet, spinner, hex screwdriver and screwdriver and toxn security bit sockets, extensions, universal, etc.

this. just bought 2 sets of metric and notified a co-worker of the fractional. Lowes just made 3 more sales today... I'm a sucker for tools under $10

Picking up Hammer drill at Sears today after work. 8 amp professional. Reg $120. Sale for $100. Online for $90. $5 off, so $85.
Not great, but not terrible for 8 amp hammer drill with case.
Can't stand that a lot of drills now come with no case...

That S95 deal looks great--too bad I already have a S90. Can't justify the minor upgrade. Great camera!

For those still waiting on Grainger SK 1/2 flex ratchets. I got a call out of the blue this morning from them that my ratchet was in.

I had written this deal off, but it was waiting for me at the stated price.

This is from an order back around Black Friday or whenever we all jumped on it.

For $19.98, you can the 51-pc set. You get the sockets in both of those sets, plus a ratchet, flex handle, 3 extensions and a good bit more. I used a HF 20% coupon, bringing it to a bit under $16.

They accept competitor's coupons?

I picked my set up today, rather happy with it so far, but the ratchet was bone dry when I took it apart. Not even a light coating of oil. Greased it up and it's smooth as silk now.

Have you taken yours apart yet?

I'm pretty sure they always have. As for HF coupons in particular, there's now one within 30 miles or so of the 2 stores I normally shop. I told them that, and after checking with the manager, one store would accept it, and one wouldn't.

Mine seems pretty smooth right out of the box, but I may at some point.

Good to know. I'm going to have to try it out next time. Maybe even grab another set while I'm there.

Just to clarify, the ratchet wasn't 'rough' to begin with - I just have a habit of taking ratchets apart when I get one. I coated everything in all-purpose grease, made so much difference, it's quiet and smooth as can be.

On the sockets, yes. On the socket drivers, no.

Pardon the pictures, my hands were dirty and smudged up the chrome a bit.

Also worth noting, there are no skipped sizes on the sockets, and the torx socket drivers are actually security Torx (I thought that was a bonus...)

I love my set, especially when combined with my 1/4" impact driver. Best $20 i've spent this year
