Wow.. I thought all wera was made in Czech republic but you are correct. I emailed chads and they confirmed the sockets were made in taiwan.

That is unfortunate.

Their bits and drivers are Czech-made. Sockets are all Taiwan, including the sockets used in the bit sockets (though the actual bit inserts are Czech). Don't know about ratchets, but being as it's not real core to their business, I'd say it's safe to assume they are Taiwanese as well.

I know this is really really old news. Surprisingly, even after my order was cancelled, a grainger box with 2 flex head ratchets appeared on my step today.

Was at menards tonight getting some things and they have an irwin hand saw made in germany for free after 10 dollar rebate. Also have Eklind 7 pc allen wrench set for free after 2.50 rebate. Or the standard and metric allen wrench sets for 6 bucks with no rebate which is a great deal for made in the US allen wrenches.

The rebates if you never got one from menards come in form of store check. So you have to use them on other stuff at menards but if you're like me that is never a problem!

At HD today they had a Ryobi 8-piece carbide-tipped router bit set for $5. That price seemed nuts to me, so I bought one. Then I found it on HD's website for $20:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs...Wafvhm5&cm_mmc=CJ-_-361116-_-10368321&cj=true

It was in the center isle near the xmas specials. Normal white sticker price, not clearance.

For anyone interested, these sets are still $5. The Doraville GA HD had 4 in the tool section, with a large $19.88 price tag. They rang up at $5, so I bought 2 more. That store now has 2 sets left.

They also have free stack-on bins after $0.50 rebate (limit 10). I believe they are these:

Like to chime in about sears also.

I bought about $120 of stuff the day before black Friday. Did store pickup.

Went in Saturday to see that my order had been canceled due to selling out on Black Friday... everything but one item.

I ranted at them, and picked up the one wrench that was about $20. I had been billed $120 for one wrench. I waited till Monday and contacted sears. I was told I would be refunded in 3-5 days and they were sorry for the difficulties.

I called 5 more times (once a week) to finally get my money back... Which I just got the email saying my refund has been processed and I should see the credit back on my card in 5-7 business days.

6-7 weeks to get my money back. Im still furious.

Went to Sears last week to pick up two of the pry bar sets. Guy wandered around and couldn't seem to find them. While I was waiting I noticed the sign on the wall saying how they were delivering 100% of pickups in 5 minutes or less. I see my name on the screen and it shows my order had been delivered in 4:53.

Guy had stopped the clock under the 5 minute time. I timed him and it took him at least another 10 minutes (>15 total) to find my order. He did apologize and gave me a $5 off coupon, but they're definitely cheating on their order metrics.

This is an excellent (and unfortunately typical) example of why Sears deserves to go under.

I bought one of the 18pc professional wrench set a couple of weeks ago during the $53 dollar deal. Brought it to the register, and they wouldn't price match it. Guy told me I had to order it at the kiosk and get it at the pick up area. Ordered it, waited about 10 minutes, and walked over to the pick up, and then waited 20+ minutes more.(screen stopped at 12 minutes) Finally the guy comes out of the back and said he couldn't find the item. I had to bring him over to the shelf and show him where it was. All because the jack *** clerk didn't want the hassle of price matching the online price.

Sorry for the chatter, the chat police should show up any minute now.

store pickup refunds are handled by the store, not sears.com afaik. Every time i've ever cancelled or returned it was done instantly at the register. He may of been quite a bit more successful if he contacted the store manager with his order #. Similarly the store are also the ones who cancel pickup orders.

This did not make any sense to me when the Indian guy from Sears CS told me that. It still doesn't make a whole lot of sense that the store would handle an online order, but in a way I understand. It makes it a real pain in the **** though.

Their customer service is horrid on online orders, but their deals make it worth it in my opinion.

I received my 18pc wrench module, when I opened it--there in all it's glory sat a 16mm wrench only half polished, chrome was very patchy and open end had scratches and pits, it ruined the entire set-whoever packed that module just didn't care, as I'm in Australia this is an issue regarding return-ie. not worth it, they refunded me $25, saying as it's a set, cannot replace 1 wrench but that's not the point, the set is ruined, so I ended up buying another-if another dodgy 16mm pops up again I will send them all back
ps. my 3 pc premium ratchet set shipped today

I had the same ****... I went to pick up my stuff...they marked it that they serviced me in 2 minutes...but took about 20 minutes+... I was thinking to myself... why the F**K didn't I just go in and buy it at the store... the whole point was to pay, pick up, and run. And I was the only one in line... they lost the order and he had to run all over the stock to give me another set.

Sorta makes the deal not worth it most times...that's why I backed off on buying little deals from Sears.

My local HF store generally tries hard to give good customer service and support, unlike my local Sears who doesn't give a damn.

The other day I went to Sears to pick up two sawhorses I bought online after getting my order email saying it was ready for pick up but they could not find it when I showed up.

I could not find the stupid thing either because some genius mind moved it by the clothes department so I asked one guy about it. Dude asked me what a sawhorse was exactly, thought he was "sheeting" me but he was serious.

Anyway, after explaining what the mysterious tool was he was not sure where it was, so he asked his supervisor, who then told me they did not carry that particular model I was talking about in the store.

That is when I blew a fuse and called the manager, I told him I had just bought some and just checked the inventory online and it said they had 7 in the store, so how come you are telling me you don't have any?

After almost one hour of this ordeal since I got to the store they finally found the three legged unicorn and I went home with 2 sawhorses and a $15 gift card for the inconvenience. Now I hear they are closing 100-120 Sears due to low sales, no sheet Sherlock.

This is an excellent (and unfortunately typical) example of why Sears deserves to go under.

Except this really isn't typical.

It's far more typical that an online order for shipment results in a cancellation due to sellout than an online order for store pickup.

This particular out-of-stock issue is unfortunate, but not unexpected when dealing with Black Friday - the store doesn't have seperate inventories.

The customer never should have received a "Your order is ready for pickup!" email, as the store employees have to go to the floor and grab the item in a lot of cases, then put it in a bin and mark the order ready, so the system is flagged to send the pickup email. If he did get the email, it's entirely possible that they flagged it before picking, and then found the items out of stock, but that's not a regular occurrence.

As to refunds/credits, well, this is a problem that virtually every online retailer suffers from, and is commonly more of an issue with the credit card companies than the stores. It's ridiculous that your money can be taken instantly from your card/balance, but it takes days or weeks for authorizations to fall off, credits/refunds to be applied, etc.

It's my sincere hope that existing alternate payment methods (Dwolla, perhaps?) succeed and expand, and more methods sprout up. Anything that makes the banks feel the hurt so that they fix all of their glaring customer service issues.

Well I thought I was going to get the 56" tool chest till I read the small print...:wtf:

Hey gam, I saw a coupon for the 56" for 699. If it's not in the individual coupons that were posted, there is one towards the end of the HF 56" toolbox thread. Wish I had a few extra dollars...

This place seems to be just as full of Sears apologists as it is of Snap-On supremacists.

Yeah, what part of "forum" do some not get?

I noticed Home Depot has 16 gallon Rigid shop vacs for $49.99, in store. That's a VERY good deal if it's the same 16 gal as the one I bought over the summer.

Picked up one of these a few weeks ago. Used a 20% HF coupon to make it $39.99.

Assuming the shop vac was on sale, how did you get to use a coupon that says it is not good with other discounts or coupons? Are they really that lenient?
