Depending on what your definition of decent is. For the price, they're not bad. I bought a few of them a couple days ago to drill some holes in 2x4s. After a day of use, two bits are broken (one at the shank and one of the tip). The others that i are so dull now that I just threw them away.

So, if you've got a project and need them for a few uses, they're great. If you're looking for a nice set, save your $10.

Thanks guys. I don't use wood bores very often so only have a couple in my box. Figured if they were half decent I should just grab a set to have all the sizes for the occasional time I need to drill a 2x4 or such......

Stopped at Lowe's today and spotted a deal on

Stanley Nestable & Stackable Large Storage Bin #4

http://www.stanleytools.com/default.asp?CATEGORY=ZAG+ORGANIZERS&TYPE=PRODUCT&PARTNUMBER=056400L

Was $5.98, clearance $0.65/ea.

I'd watch Lowes for clearanced Stanley products. I just got 30 packages of Stanley FatMAX utility knife blades for a dollar each! 100 blades per package. I went to there to get some of the Wiss shears, and stumbled across the sale table as the guys were putting out the products. I put all the blades in a bucket, and went and paid. The guy at the counter says "deal of the century you got here..." :bounce:

My lowes had neither such deal. I'm jealous! No bins at all and the blades were $16.44/pack

So who got in on the Amazon Kett double shear deal from a few months ago...sometime in Oct?

Did anyone else receive a notice recently that theirs would not be shipping by the "promised" shipping date, which was sometime this week. It basically told me, "tough ****, continue waiting or cancel"

Im just wondering if I still have a chance at getting 1 or if they are basically putting all of the customers in limbo so they dont have to fulfill THEIR promise of honoring their pricing error.

I may have missed the discussion on these Irwin bits. Are these decent? HD has them for $9.99.

I just bought those. I think I've only used 5 of them so far. They've worked well for the <30 holes(each) I've made with them. I cant vouch for longevity. Doubt it, Made in china.

The only complaint for me is that the are hex-shaft quick release, which ... Dosent seem to be very useful. The hex shafts when put into an impact driver are loose and wobble. The length sometimes makes it too long that things don't fit. I've cut off the hex portions of the 1/2 and 3/8 to make things a more manageable length, which fits nicely in drill chucks.

I have not as yet received a notification on the Kett shears, but I got 2 this week on the "Titan Extra-Long Flex Head Ratchet" - the first saying it would be delayed roughly another month, the 2nd saying they were unable to obtain stock on the item. C'est la vie.

Same here on the Titan. Would have been nice but those are the breaks I suppose. Not a good leading indicator on the Kett, I'd venture.

sounds like my Lowes, never has the close outs everyone is talking about.

The awesome close-out prices Lowes has are per-store, not even regional. YMMV. Sometimes when a product is discontinued, you will see all the stores in a district closing them out at the same time, but for completely different prices. The good news is most stores will price-match if you bring in your receipt from another store, to get the same price.

I have one on order and I have not received an email. The delivery window is now.. 12/27 through 1/21. I once bought a kitchen item and waited through three or four months before it arrived... but it did eventually show up.

No amazon doesnt charge until the item has shipped.

I was just curious if I was the only one getting a "continue to wait or cancel" email. At the price I paid, the wait will be worth it.

I got the wait or cancel email yesterday. I'm waiting. :)

I did get my $100 vise, though:

I was lucky enough to get mine a few weeks after I ordered (must have been in the first post-re-stock group). They didn't ship immediately, but they did ship. I'd wait.

For Midwest folks or people willing to pay shipping. Fleet Farm has their Homak 42" Wide SE Tool boxes on sale, plus get get a gift card depending on purchase.

http://www.fleetfarm.com/brand/Homak

Plus you get a gift card for $10 ($100 spent) $25 ($200 spent) or $50($350 spent)

I just purchased the 8 drawer upper and for 225 (including gift card) I dont think it could be beat for the money. Plan on going back and getting the lower and side cab before the 14th.

I really wanted a set of these "twisted" wrenches around Christmas time and looked at them often on line. Then I stumbled upon a cheap set at Tractor Supply and for $10. the fetish is satisfied.

FWIW:

I was at my local Home Depot picking up some more filters for my Ridgid wet/dry vac and stopped by to look over their Channellock selection.

I picked up the Channellock 437 7" cutting pliers for 10.00 plus tax and the Channellock 85 fence tool for 13.00 plus tax. They also had their 9" ironworkers pliers for 13.00. Might want to keep watch on the Channellock inventory to see if they start clearing out some of the stock.

YMMV.

Thanks for that - I picked up the crimpers and the cutters for $21 total.

Fwiw, these are the US-made tools that my HD seemed to be clearing out:

Crescent (get 'em while you can and check before buying- the only US-made ones are old stock)
8" & 10" water pump pliers - $8 (click for amazon link)
6" adjustable - $6
8" adjustable - $7
10" adjustable - $8

Channellock
85 (fencing tool) - $13
350s (ironworkers pliers) - $13
437 (diag. cutters) - $10
909 (crimpers) - $10

There was also a place for a three piece Vise Grip set (no longer US-Made, of course) with a knife for $20, but my HD didn't have any left.
