They were not on sale, but I have been wanting to try them for a while. $19.95 for the twin pack (both sizes). I really like the action on them. Seems smoother than the standard channellock pliers.

Did you get chance to check those Crescent adjustable pliers? They are pretty good for $8.

Those are made in China in my store, so I gave them a pass. I did pick up the Channellock iron worker and the crimper pliers though. I was tempted by the fence pliers but couldn't figure out what I would need those for. Thanks for the headsup...

Crescent adjustable pliers in my store are Made in USA. I was tempted by the fence pliers too, but not quite sure if I really need it. Then a HD guy came by and introduced this tool and said he used it many years, one of his favorites, bla, bla. I was persuaded.

They're not all USA made. They're starting to use rebranded Gearwrench tools.

Here's one I found on ebay. This is the same as the Gearwrench ratchets.

That ratchet was part of a socket set that is no longer made. NAPA use to offer the rebaged Gearwrench stuff back before GW went to china. 90% of NAPA hardline tools are USA made with the exception of a few NOS sets, the evercraft brand, and NAPA screwdrivers.
All of the ratchets I posted are indeed USA made.

Here is their entire (current) tool catalog. http://ecatalograck.genpt.com/pdfca...kin/entrymap/entrymap_napa.asp?SkinId=7.2.1.1

snap-on tool box w/stainless steel work top and roll cart - $3000 (cleveland)

I know nothing more about this deal other than what is posted in the ad I just came across, but from the GJ threads I have read about the snap-on box prices this seems like its a good deal. I don't have $3000 to spend anyway so I thought I would post it.

according to the poster;
"I only got to use it for 6 months and I paid 7,400 for the tool box and 400 for the roll cart"

Anyone know if this is a good deal....I have not seen this bench grinder on sale before, and it was rated the best out of these three. http://toolguyd.com/bench-grinder-craftsman-ryobi-porter-cable-recommendation/

Sears Bench Grinder for $47.25....deal ends at midnight tonight!

http://www.sears.com/shc/s/p_10153_12605_00921124000P?sid=I0084400010000100600&aff=Y

Thoughts?

I bought this one last summer and it worked great for me. The price at that time was around $45.

I tend to agree with adamsredlines. I have one myself and it works decent enough for light duty work but if you're wanting to do any heavy grinding you may want to step up to a little better model.
I use mine with a wire wheel to clean up old tools etc. and also grind my mower blades a couple times a year. It's been decent enough for that.

I use the Craftsman grinder at home garage. It is power enough for my applications. I have to mount it to some place when using it.

IMO its pretty underpowered. I have one and you have to use a pretty light touch with it.

That's basically what I'm going to use it for....can you switch out the wheels for others?

Yeah, I put a wire wheel on one side of mine. I guess if you're doing REALLY light duty...go for it. I have a hard time cleaning up a flea market find rusty tool, cant put enough pressure on it to get in little recessed areas without it bogging down/stopping.

Menards is having their "Made in USA" sale... lots of good stuff I happen to need for the house right now, but they seem to have some good sales on Channellock as well I'll be picking up:

9" Linesman Pliers - $15.99 (#369, $30 everywhere else?)
3-piece tongue & groove pliers gift set - $26.88 (#426, #420, #440)

Also a 2-piece plier set and wire stripper as well. Nothing super-hot, but very solid sale prices on Channellock and you support a "local"ish retailer :)

MasterForce screwdrivers are all on sale - these are made by Pratt-Read.

At my Home Depot, nothing was on sale, the guy who was assigned to tools that day had no idea what I was talking about, regarding the tool sale or probably anything else I would have asked him. The customer service woman was worse--she looked like she smoked a whole carton of marlboro's the night before, had liberal amounts of 1970's powder blue eye shadow, and looked dumbfounded. All she could do was offer to call bubba in tools. It was a fresh reminder of why I go to Lowes instead of HD every time and if I am forced to go to HD--I try to hit the Frazier one instead of Downingtown--I've found some people in the Frazier store who know what they are doing and may go there next to look for these tools.

OK so having vented at all these poor HD employee's expense, I feel better and can ask--is this a sale they SHOULD know about? or is it unadvertised and you go to the cashier and it magically rings in at clearance price? Were there clearance signs etc in the stores where those of you who got the sales price went? Is it possible the clearance sale is over? Even still, the guy in tools should have known that.

Any input appreciated. :D

Thanks,

CISO

Lol at the description of events...

At my local HD(s), they are on the racks just like they've always been but they are marked at a lower price with no extra cents (e.g. $10.00, not $10.97). They are not marked "sale" or "clearance" or anything else.

My guess is that if you take them to the self checkout area and scan them, they'll come up at the price I posted. That is only a guess though. Maybe regional prices are different.

Local Sears had the DeWalt 12V worklight on clearance for $9.97.

Also picked up a T10 for $1.97 and a 5/16" x 12" slotted screwdriver for $4.97

Woman at the counter said this stuff went on clearance last night. No idea if your local store will have these.

DeWalt DCD985B 20-Volt MAX Cordless Lithium Ion Hammerdrill Driver Bare Tool

$74.99 from tooliday

http://www.tooliday.com/

This is a bare tool without the battery pack, but seems like it's a good deal if you already have a 20v LiOn set but not the hammerdrill. I did a quick search on amazon and it's $233 for one with the battery pack.

You stole that light, it's like $49 at Lowe's and 30-35 on Amazon. I've been watching for a good buy on it. Nice job, I might need to run check my sears later today. It's $39 on sears website right now.

My sears had the pro torx and some screw drivers but they wanted $5-6 each. Last I looked they were gone. Every time I stop by sears I look to see what they have.

My local Sears' clearance never looked like a clearance. The price is always very high

same here...clearance prices are probably 80% of retail...

From what I've noticed, Sears lowers the price on clearance items every two months or so. I'm in my local Sears almost daily during the week and have gotten very good deals over the past three years.

I watched Mr. Beer kits go from $36 on clearance to $24 and finally to $12; kept telling myself I'd buy a few when they were reduced to the lowest price but never did.

My Husqvarna chainsaw dropped from over $200 to $163 and finally to $117 before I bought it.

I watched a Milwaukee 1/2" Magnum drill drop to $83 and finally to $64, it's in the toolbox now. I wanted to wait for it to hit $32, but the RTV sticker was put on it (indicating it was about to be shipped to a clearance center, I think). A week earlier a Sawzall popped up out of nowhere for $28.

Sometimes Sears just has something that seemingly comes from nowhere, like the Sawzall above. I also picked up a 46" LCD LED TV for $374 after wandering into electronics. It's sitting on the mantle now. My Craftsman riding mower (original retail $1865) cost me around $1100 complete with the bagger ($400 retail, picked up for $97) and bumper ($100 retail, paid $5), and there are more than a few tools sitting out in the garage that were snatched up after patiently waiting for their prices to drop.

Then again, the mall I work at is in the ghetto part of town. The Sears across town rarely has the great deals this one has.

fm2176 - what is this "RTV sticker" at Sears your talking about?
-I check my closest sears when I'm in the area and manage to pick up a few odd ball things for cheap now and then, and they all have the light red or pink clearance sticker on them. Also, I normally just check the clearance end cap back in the corner of the tool dept, didn't think to check other departments like electrionics.
