Wow, thanks for the oil link. Going to go to Wal Mart tomorrow and get that mailed in.

Question for all, I need to buy a HF air hose that is listed online for 89.99. Will a 20% coupon work? It seems like it doesn't work on anything decent anymore! Any way to buy it cheaper, is it frequently on sale?!

If you go to your local HF they should match the online price and you should be able to use the 20% coupon. My local HF will match online pricing.

Today, I was at one of the "Sears Essentials" stores that is closing in my area. The tools section had everything marked down 20% and some even more. Honestly, I don't think much merchandise is going to move with 20% off since Sears sales prices are often better. Maybe when it gets closer to the actual closing... nonetheless, I saw the Craftsman electronic torque wrench 1/2" for $199, which is a re-branded Gearwrench (looks identical to the Gearwrench version I have)... $199 is about the cheapest I've seen it so that might be a decent deal.

i'm considering going back there and talking with the store manager to see if he/she would be willing to negotiate on price if I bought several items... they have the stainless steel tool box which looked pretty nice too...

Also, want to mention that I visited Costco today on the way back from work and picked up the last Whistler IC-3409PX inspection camera that was on the shelf. There was no asterisks on the price tag so I don't think they are discontinuing this product, but when they scanned it at the register, it showed up at $80 (price tag said $149.99). The product was still sealed so not sure why it was marked down, but I wasn't going to complain at the pleasant surprise. Opened it up when I got home and everything looks brand new inside. Anyone interested in getting this, might be worth checking out your Costco..

That is more than the one near me. Most stuff was only 10% off, unless they dropped again in the past couple days, unlikely since they said on Friday was the first day of the clearance sale. One pair of Carhartts I looked at was $48 with 30% off...the price tag under the $48 sticker was $38. Nothing at the store except some craftsman socks seemed like a good deal to me. I could have went to non-closing store and got most things cheaper on sale!

That's pretty typical and why I laugh at people posting Amazon "hot deals" when it's showing a certain % off. Those numbers are always manipulated.

I would have to disagree with you. Amazon is very customer oriented, they wouldn't make up discounts. The discount percentage is probably based off MSPR.

Unrelated, and that's based off MSRP as silly/unrelated as it is.

Store liquidations are often carried out by 3rd party companies who do that and jack the prices UP, and then show the % off the MSRP when the store was selling things for far less prior to the liquidation.

That one is too big to see down most engine spark plug holes.

Nice, combine that with milwaukee's free m12 tool/battery promotion! Can't find a pdf easily available, but northerntool has a link on their website (right under the add to cart button).

That's fine but show me a place that actually sells at MSRP.

Oh wait...

Not to mention I bought the same set back in December from TheToolWarehouse.net for $120...

Amazon's discount % is a joke, don't fall for it.

I like how both of the websites "list price" is $200 different. List prices have always seemed worthless in my opinion, as they can adjust to whatever they want.

The item you quoted it not being sold BY Amazon, but ON Amazon.com. Slight difference, but an important one. Anyone can sell on Amazon. You, me or my crackhead neighbor.

Amazon makes up MSRP just like the other stores do. Regardless the % discount that you see on Amazon is simply a made up number with no basis in fact.

For those who use Firefox, download the Tracktor add-on. It gives you a graph of price history on Amazon items. For example, that X-beam set was as low as 19.95 from Jan 20-30.
