The code SAVE15 will save you $15 off $100 today only at Sears.com. I'm finally going to buy the impact socket module.

Also, Sears sent me a $10 gift card free the other day. They said one of my recent purchases qualified me. I sure can't argue with that!

In the spirit of sharing on this cool thread, I got this little credit card size tool for Christmas from Amazon and love the thing. It's super cheap at $2 and it does fit in your wallet. Use it all the time.

In for one thanks. In the worst case I am out $1.99, can't go wrong with that.

Are Lithium-Ion batteries that much better than nicad? I know this isn't the place to ask but....I am anyway. Planning to buy some stuff from sears and I need another battery as my nicads are getting old and not holding as long of a charge. So $30 for nicad or $68 for lithium....

If you don't already have the tools, I would say DON'T buy Craftsman power tools (especially battery powered). Turn and run.

Get Bosch/Makita/DeWalt/Hitachi/Milwaukee/Hilti or other comparable brand. Also some of the brands above have cheap lines of tools. Don't get those either

I know that Lithium Ion charge more quickly and have more power, but you can damage them if you run them til they are completely out of power, at least that is what I've come to understand from my flashlight hobby.

I'd say yes... my oldest Lithium's are still going strong (Bosch 36v), when I had NiCad I could clearly tell the "memory" effect happening within 2 years of purchase. (Bosch 24v).

To me, NiCad's are yesterday's technology. If I needed a throwaway set I wouldn't hesitate to go NiCad with a cheap brand, but if you plan on using and/or keeping something, Lithium is the way to go IMO.

Unless they are being used every day, Craftsman power tools work just fine for your average homeowner.

I have heard the lithium C3 works better than nicad, but don't know from experience. I have a set of the Professional 20V lithium and have been very pleased with power and length of life with those lithium batteries.

Flash e'm reverse polarity quickly from your car battery--they forget their memory--just like a lobotomy-boom--where was I ?

I will never buy NiCd again. I have a lot of Li ION stuff.

The batteries don't discharge much at all sitting on the shelf. They don't develop memories

Can't hurt them running them down to nothing, because they have a chip that shuts them off at around 2.7v. They never go to zero. The "old" ones did that and caught fire, the new ones run protected circuits. That's the reason why when you are using them, they just quit all of a sudden, instead of the motor getting slower, like a NiCd.

Sage advice here, and good point to be wary of low-end lines of otherwise great tools. Pay special attention when you buy them in a big-box store.

Li-Ion batteries will allow more charge cycles than Ni-Cd and will not have any memory effect due to improper charging. but Ni-Cd batteries are easier to design for high power output, so on low-end Li-Ion batteries, you might get less power out of the Li-Ion vs Ni-Cd. The higher quality Li-Ion you don't have to worry about most of the time. Li-Ion is also much lighter so might be easier on the arm/hand if you're planning prolonged usage.

If you had to decide based on a single factor, it would be number of charge cycles. You can get about double the number of charge cycles out of Li-Ion vs Ni-Cd, so in that sense you might consider Li-Ion "worth twice as much" as a Ni-Cd. But some high quality Ni-Cd are pretty good; I especially like the XRP Ni-Cd batteries for the Dewalt 18V line.

GearWrench 81003 3 Piece 1/4-Inch Drive Locking Extension Set $11.95 FSS if you go over $25

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B000NIEFF0/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I just got my order. No tray (doesn't bother me), the locks are different (see attached pic), no knurling (would have been nice to have), $12 bucks for 3 locking 1/4" extensions, I can't really complain too much. Taiwan made for those that care.

Someone had mentioned WERA screwdrivers earlier. If you don't have to have the grippy ones, these plain ones are a steal right now, just $13. About to order some myself. Was just out in the garage and had a cheap screwdriver slip out of a head. Maybe these laser cut tipped ones will be better. Says there's only 3 sets left.

that's $13 + $6 shipping so $19. Amazon has it for $20 with free shipping with prime. so, about the same. I guess I would feel like it would be worth an extra $7 for these:

I don't think it's a HOT DEAL, since it is the regular price but more of an FYI.

I was looking for some of the smaller sized Irwin Quick Grip clamps. I was going to buy two 6" and two 12". If you buy them individually it would be $65 and if you buy them in pairs it is $50. Well right next to the individual camps is an 8 pack which include those as well as two Handi clamps and two of the scissor type. The 8 pack is $29. Not sure why anybody would buy the 12" two-pack for the same price. The clamps in the 8 pack are identical to the individual ones. I didn't see the 8 packs at Lowes.

Got my Jegs bench mat today... no hat. Called Jegs, nice lady named Carla said she'll send me a hat. Ordering another tonight and gonna remind them in a message to include the hat this time.
Got the hat yesterday.... actually sent me 3 hats and some stickers. How freaking cool is that of them?!! I told them I was ordering another mat as a gift and said it'd be nice to have a hat to give with it to, but I didn't expect them to throw in a third hat.

BTW, JMHO on the hat quality, but I think they're pretty darn decent hats actually. Better than most of the free hats I've been given over the years, and pretty stylish too... at least my wife and kids look good in 'em. Hat looks like this:

Same deal as darkbuddha, got my mat on Thursday; no hat! Called the 800# this a.m. about the hat and just received an email confirming the hat order. Quick fix to my phone call. Can't complain about their service and it does look like a nice hat. The mat fits just about right in my service cart tray too.
