I'm looking for a portable 'work bench' , as my HF one is a POS and doesn't store well. Will those platforms function in that manner? E.g., can I clamp a miter saw to it and go, etc.? Or is that not advised, doesn't have the underside for it?

I suppose you could put a miter saw on it, but in reality the platform is only about 20" tall. The description is wrong. It is about perfect height to use as a sitting bench, storage bench, or standing bench. This thing is remarkably stable and sturdy

My HD had vent free wall mount 26k reddy heaters marked down to $169. They also had smaller units for about the same price or slightly less. Not sure on the quality of these units, and Im having trouble finding any info on run time, but I hope Im able to just use a gas grill tank.....if not, Ive got until june to return it...and then maybe buy it at an even cheaper price when they put it back on the shelves,lol

Wiha always has monthly specials on their web site, so keep an eye on that. Got a split face hammer at a good price.

Typically 20% off retail, but you never find anything better on PB Swiss anymore now that Small Parts / Amazon no longer carries them. I wish I'd have seen this earlier... The tag at the closest store showed that price, I spent ten minutes pulling this thread up (and the corresponding link to the HD site,) to show them at the service center, and after all that work, asked the cashier at the lumber register to check the price - she told me without even scanning it.

That store didn't change the tags on the ladder aisle, but had a couple displays up front that I missed with a generic sign on it.

Thought I was going to have to go through a big hassle, but wasn't the case.

*edit* - they were sold out of the platforms at that store, but I still had mine from Lowe's BF deal...
