will those be good for installing drop ceiling gridwork. the acp drop ceiling that screws directly onto the ceiling.

does it draw a line all the way across the ceiling?

If you mount it on a tripod or angle it up, I don't see why not. It will shoot a line well over 20ft long.

Maybe someone who has tried can give a better idea.

No it shoots a dot above and below the unit, with a grid projected on the wall in front of it.

I suppose you could tilt it back on a tripod, but it probably wouldnt work very well because the pendulum can swing around and if bumped you would be setting your lines up again.

I ended up buying three sets of these and using the $35 off coupon 35OFF. I figure I will use one set, and tuck the other two away for the future. These are quality ratchets and soon it will be hard, maybe impossible, to find a set that is made in USA that I can give my boys.

If you guys had to chose between the CM thin profile ratchets and the CM professional ratchets, I assume you'd pick the professional?

Thinking about picking up one of these sets today.

I originally assumed the unit could be tilted up or down to place the line at whatever height you needed it, with the unit mounted to a tripod.

Unfortunately, it uses an internal pendulum to self-level. If you tilt the unit back or forward, the pendulum touches the sidewall and stops self-leveling, making it just a laser line, not a level laser line.

That means the unit has to be sitting at whatever height you want your line, or very close to it with almost no tilt.

Had I known that when I bought it, I probably wouldn't have. I'll probably return it unless someone here posts an easy way to adjust line height.

Most of these levels I've used turn themselves off when they are tilted beyond 5 degrees or so. If this one will not, you could put the line where you want it and chock up the laser, then manually level it.

N.B. I just checked that Ryobi. It does not turn off. You can point the laser up, but it may not stay anywhere near level. It depends on how the pendulum settles determining the angle of the projection.

The Craftsman Club deals are showing on the initial page, but when I add to my cart, they jump in price. For instance, the 9 pc. Standard 12 point Long Pattern Combo Wrench set is $29.99 according to the deals, and it is showing up $49.99 in my cart, and I cant even get it at any stores near me.

Did you go to checkout and enter your member # on the right hand side? That is what I have to do to see the price discount.

Are these thin profile made in USA? I love the quick release function compared to their premium ones that don't have it. Is there a post somewhere that specify which ones are USA made and which ones aren't?

More than likely not USA made. They phased in Taiwan made ones last year. Might be some old stock laying around that may get shipped but there is way to know what you will get.

Only USA made ratchets for Craftsman are their premium line for considerably more money.

No, apparently they're not the same... different part numbers and the "SEARS49" code doesn't work on 'em. Doesn't matter though, 'cause I just got to looking at my email and noticed that the ones I like better are also 1/2 off right now through Craftsman Club. Plus they're in stock for local pick-up. Plus I get a $10 coupon for my next purchase over $50. SWEET!

I must be missing something here.........the Ryobi level just shuts off the laser line if it can't self-level? and comes up with a white LED or some such?

The line height is fine tuned w the screw in the unit, but you've gotta have your tripod close to desired height.

I'm not saying you're wrong......I think we're speaking different languages here, what am I missing?

CPO is offering the M12 kit with 1/4" hex impact driver and 3/8" drill, two batts and charger for $119 this weekend. That is a REALLY good deal, considering the 1/4" impact kit alone is usually $99. The CPO kit is apparently recon, tho.

And I'm not sure if the link will work? CPO sets it up so you have to access straight from their email (tricky).

Thanks for the follow up, I was afraid of that. I wonder/bet it'd work if I forwarded the email to others? Anyone know? If anyone truly wants this kit at $119 PM your email and I'll forward. Would be interesting to know if it'll work that way.

I didn't even notice the mention of the free hat when ordering it (it was in smaller print somewhere at the top of the listing.) I just thought it was a bonus because I ordered two, until I went back to leave feedback.

Cool of them to follow-up with a separate shipping so quickly. :)

I was on the fence about writing them because it was probably an oversight and I got a good deal but hats sure come in handy here in TX so I just shot them a polite note. We'll see. Thanks.

Just got back from the sears store in lawton.....they had their individual line wrenchs on clearance. USA ....$1.97 each. I was late, got 1/2-9/16 and 5/8-11/16 and a couple of metrics about the same. They had already sold out of the other sizes. Also had some of their usa sockets marked 97 cents. I bought all I could use. I think they will be on sale to they're gone because they put little pink stickers on them.

Same at my sears. I got several wrenches because I couldn't pass them up at $1.97. I got two 16/18mm - one USA, and one CHINA. I'm thinking about pitting them against one another in a "wrench-off"... :beer:
