Not a HOT deal but my HD has the funky Ridgid 4.5" grinder (yeah you know the one with the slim body and "big ****") on clearance for $75 down from regular price of $99. If you needed a decent grinder anyhow this could fit the bill.

well he just did it. I believe not all Lowe's will honor the coupon.

Yeah, I tried a 20% off HF coupon at one of my local Lowes and they said the max they will take off is 10%.

I used a 20% off HF coupon at one of my local HDs and they took it just fine....but back then HF was brand new and the local HD didnt really know who they were so things may have changed by now. I was sure to get my moneys worth with the coupon: 20% off the Ridgid 8kW generator.

this isn't a super hot deal or anything, but it is the best price by over $25 compared to anywhere else i've seen this. no tax in many states and free shipping:

http://www.thetoolwarehouse.net/p-14470-irwin-industrial-4935355.aspx

79 Piece PTS Fractional and Metric Tap and Die Set - Self Aligning / IRW4935355
Price: $222.50

made in usa?

The tap and die modules are made in and marked USA. The holder/handle module however is made in China.

And this set is usually $230 shipped from tooltopia...

Not really a hot hot deal but my local Lowes has a Bosch oscillating tool similar to this
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B007EO8ITK/?tag=atomicindus08-20
called MX30EK-21 in a hard case without the accessory box but it comes with 21 attachments
and a free Bosch 6 pc. cutting kit which alone cost ~$70 for $199.

For some reason, lack of search skills maybe, I was not able to find it online.

I passed by a display as you described earlier, but didn't realize the 6-piece cutting kit was free with purchase. If so, that's a heck of a good deal!

Might not be at every Lowes but at the local one here they had one of the legal size neon green notes saying that.

True. But the display was prominently positioned with the cutting kits on top.

My trip to Lowes was at 7:30am so I wasn't exactly eagle-eyed.

It is entirely store and even employee dependent. First time I tried at HD on a rotary drill I had no issues, tried a few days later on a band saw and was sent to the help desk where they called the manager and then called HF asking about what kind of band saws they had. When the Hd employee found out a HF band saw cost about 1/3 as much they weren't interested in the price match plus 10%, they offered instead of taking the 20% coupon, so they called Lowes to feel better about their own price and when Lowes quoted them the same price, $299, they told me they would not honor the 20% off coupon and would I like to check out. Needless to say I said no and left without the saw, bought one online for better than 20% off the next week from Northern.

Never tried at Lowes but would expect the same result.

totally agree about it depends on which employee you get.

HD and Lowes are so clueless. once upon a time they wanted to crush all the mom & pop competition and would go all out on a price war. but these days they only see each other as competition. meanwhile, a national chain like HFT is pulling in profits from cheap tools and continues to improve on the quality of their offerings. when they finally realize the HFT threat, they are going to be caught with their orange and blue pants down.

For you Mid Missouri members in particular, I have used the HF coupons at the HD in Columbia twice with no problem and they are pretty good in general IMO.

The Lowes in Jefferson City is inconsistent. If a manager is contacted I would expect it to be denied. The last time I asked they wouldn't give a military discount citing there only being specific times of the year for it.
In my experience a cashier at the contractor checkout, usually in front of the lumber, is the best bet and how I prefer to checkout at any warehouse store. YMMV but in my experience the individual employee checking you out trumps the policy.

Thanks for the heads up. I had been looking at the 2.5 amp model for months now, just had not pulled the trigger on one. Stopped by Lowes tonight just to look at the one you mentioned, 3 amp model with the extra cutting kit. Went ahead and picked one up.

I can't find that deal on the website...

This is what I find.
Reg Price: $34.99
Savings: $10.24
$24.75

I noticed that. It was in the store, but it wasnt online or in the weekly paper ad. But the red sale tag on the shelf said the deal ran from May 6th to May 12th.

OK, I'll have to check it out. I have that set now. It's not the greatest but has worked fine so far for me. I want to get a 2nd one just so I have a backup set.

Seems to be a lot of Kobalt sets on sale at Lowes - stubbies at $14.99 ($10 off), Pipe wrench set of 3 $19, crescent set of 3 $19 - all $10 off. Not bad if you like Kobalt and need a set. Going to pick up the stubbies.

For Canadians & border folks 5" bench vise $34 ($38 all in). http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/brow...aft+5-in.+Vise+With+Swivel+Base.jsp?locale=en

Cheaper than HF WITH 20% coupon.

Girl at checkout told me the lifetime warranty will be honoured without receipt or packaging no questions asked. Just bring in the busted vise and get a new one. I told her this will get a beating with a sledge hammer and she said no problem.

Not the best quality but so what? Abuse away.

Costco has a Simpson brand 3000psi pressure washer with Honda engine for $259. The sale started today (5/10/2012), I picked one up, extremely powerful, really nice build.

I just stop are the sears for lunch at the mall, and have them order it on their system, and I get free shipping. Their website needs some work.

I've done that the last couple of times. This deal ends at 5am so I was going to try. I missed on the last one that ended before I got there.

The other option is just give sears.com a call. If you order qualifies for free shipping. They will process the order over the phone just like the website suppose to do. They are pretty helpful on the phone as well. I forgot a 5 buck coupon after placing and on line order. I call them and they applied the discount after the order. And refunded me the money.
