Advance auto has 5 piece Gearwrench X-beam wrenches on sale for $29.99 (50% off they say). Seems like a pretty good deal to me- sale good through June 24.

http://advanceauto.shoplocal.com/ad...umber=1&rapid=696375&prvid=AdvanceAuto-090528

That looks like a pretty good deal. It looks like with all the crazy deals Sears is running this weekend you can get both 7 piece sets for $65.50. A little better value than the 5 piece sets, unless you only need only need one set or specific sizes.

Bought one. I figured a small dead blow might come in handy. Plus, you're right - the price cannot be beat. Did the one you receive have a part number on it?

I'll check. I was very impressed with the finish of the handle. The attention to detail is nice, compared to my Vaughan and Blue Point (rebadged Vaughan?) hammers. PB Swiss, I read, uses American hickory for their handles, like American handle manufacturers. The urethane "casting" is very clean and nice too.

I read that too, about the American hickory. I'm looking forward to giving it a try. I just couldn't identify the model number from the part number they gave. But, for $10, whatever exact style and size it is, it's already guaranteed to be a great deal. Thanks again for mentioning it!

I was able to pinpoint the model on PB Swiss' website: PB 303/4 with the fiberglass handle.

I added the item into the shopping list, but was told it's unavailable. :( Maybe you took the last one Stuey!

I have the one with the hickory handle, and yes, it's USA hickory--a nice piece.

Thanks! That's the one I thougt it was, but wasn't sure.

Sorry you couldn't get in on the deal. When I placed an order for one, Amazon reported that there were four remaining in stock. Then again, my order didn't ship yet and won't ship until Monday, so who knows if I even got one.

Darn. The hammer I received was not the one with a hickory handle as originally pictured, but is the one with a fiberglass handle. That's okay, though, especially since the fiberglass one is valued a bit higher.

I think the handle is more than 8oz, though - maybe 12?

Billymade: how are those PB prices compared to the regular/sale prices offered on Amazon by Small Parts? I only checked a few out when there was another sale announced a while ago, and they weren't that favorable. But I should check again.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clue! :) I don't know much about or even own any PB Swiss stuff but I know there are quite a few fans around here; I figured I would pass the info about the sale along, to possible interested members here! :)

I've been pretty loyal to Small Parts via Amazon as their prices are unbeatable. Only exception would be the clearance items at COT and items that Small Parts doesn't carry (yet) or out of stock items.

PB prices are not good compared to Small Parts IMHO. I spot-checked a few and Small Parts had them beat by considerable margins. I can't say for sure there isn't a gem hidden in there, but I didn't see any.

metric 10, 12, 13, 14, each set $10 I know Sears set is on sale for $50 for 8 pc sets with larger sizes. Would the ACE set be a good deal to try them out?

That's a pretty good deal, if you need those sizes. I got mine at Ace last Christmas, when they had 5-pc sets for $10 after a mail-in rebate.

Hondas and Nissans have lots of 10, 12, and 14 mm bolts.

I sthis $10 for all 4 wrenches? -not $10 each? Are they the ratcheting or combination? I can't find thid deal on the website - does it require a coupon?

It doesn't look like those wrenches are reversible. Not a bad deal, but not the best wrenches. Very, very tempting, but I will likely pass. The GW Vortex set for $10 is a darn good deal, though, but I probably won't go through the hassle of trying to track down my nearest Ace.

That`s the flyer above. $10 for 4 pc set. Combos. I called local ACE store to get sizes listed above. Sears has the 8pc set in todays add for $40 and they are reversible.

1st post has been cleaned up, expired deals moved to 2nd post.

Ready for more deals!

Added was a $10 off $50 for Victorinox, and I'll add a few of the mentions from the tail of the thread.

Just my opinion guys, but the "quad-box" gearwrenches that Ace has listed, I find to be very handy. Especialy for a tool belt or similar application. I use them a lot.

Recently bought that 3/8 drive gearwrench socket set that was on sale at Sears for 19.99. Surprised as well to see that it was made in China. I too thought all GW was from Taiwan. Still a good deal considering it included a 3/8 ratchet. Somehow disappointing though.
