Thx for the post, Johnny!

I had been waiting around to see what would happen, and to no surprise, not "all" Gearwrench are on sale. I'm going to head to the store and see what they can do about it.

I'm hoping I can score this workboot at 70% off of the $90 list price, it's at $45 right now, but at $36 it seems like a pretty good deal. I'd prefer the steel toe but for some reason that one isn't coming up as on sale.

I haven't had any real workboots in years but after seeing my friend run over his toe the other day with an Airstream it occurred to me the tennisshoes could probably use an upgrade! :)

Hey Stuey! I'm not surprised as well, this sale seems a little hinkey for some reason. Good luck getting any customer service over there! I dread venturing further inside than the customer pickup, and even that *never* goes smoothly. Even though I got the email that my order is ready to pick up, everybody always seems completely baffled when I show up to get it, like they've never done this before! :headscrat

So apparently "50% Off All Gearwrench" only applies to one ratcheting wrench set. That Sears rep is lucky I didn't have time to argue. But... now I do. Heading to a different Sears store that's near the Barnes and Noble I need to pick something up at.

I'm prepared for a fight, but I'm pretty sure that I'm going to lose.

I wonder if there's any recourse. I mean it says "ALL GEARWRENCH". If they don't honor it for "all" Gearwrench, doesn't that violate some kind of FTC regulation?

Success. It took a bit of sweet talking, but they other Sears came through for me!

I then tried using the $10 gift card that I received a few weeks back after waiting a while for my pick-up order, and it turns out that it was never activated. lol, not a great day for me.

Congrats Stuey! I was hoping for an update. My recent dealing with Sears have been so p*ss poor I figured you didn't stand a chance, but I'm glad to hear some places still have thinking people working there!

underdog-I got that set a while back when it was on sale and I've really liked it, well worth the 20 bucks. I was actually kinda looking for an excuse to get another one as I never seeem to be able to find the little one which I use pretty often, and it's priceless going to pick a part!!! :D

Well, the tool dept. manager told me that the best he could do was set me up with the district manager to see how they can assist me. I pressed a little (politely) and he checked with a higher-up manager who gave the okay.

The thing is, they were as confused about this as we all are. There was an override scan code for several tools that don't natively scan as being on sale, but it didn't work on the roto ratchets. The wording of the advertisement says "ALL Gearwrench" without any mentioned exclusions, which is why they really couldn't say no.

The 1st Sears wasn't as good of an experience since I wasn't dealing with the best of associates. Between the two stores, I've been told different things such as 1) the only set on sale is the one shown, 2) only "sets" are on sale. The fact of the matter is that nobody at either store has any idea as to why these sets are excluded from the discount.

In today's Sears weekly flyer. Attached is a screenshot of said flyer. Sale ends tomorrow at noon.

Look at the lower left hand side of the screenshot. Says "Save 50% Off All Gearwrench."

Just picked up the GearWrench SAE and Metric sets at Ace for $10 for each set. I noticed the same thing... made in china for Danaher. The finish quality looks fine, and the ratcheting action seems smooth enough. Wonder how they'll do when put to work...

Recently bought that 3/8 drive gearwrench socket set that was on sale at Sears for 19.99. Surprised as well to see that it was made in China. I too thought all GW was from Taiwan. Still a good deal considering it included a 3/8 ratchet. Somehow disappointing though.

This one should be correct. I went to my local sears and actually stood right next to the department manager while he was putting up the 50% off tags on all the Gearwrench wrench sets. Only thing I did not see him put tags on were on the wrenches that are sold individually.

It appears that only in-store stocked ratcheting wrench sets are on sale as usual, but the wording of the advertisement says "All Gearwrench."

There were times when most GW products were discounted under simialr promos. It appears that the marketing/promotion director and POS programmer ignored failed to communicate properly yet again. This seems to happen too regularly.

e.g. There are times when "all socket storage" is supposed to be on sale, but aren't, "all wrench sets" are supposed to be on sale and none are, etc etc.

If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to order several hundred dictionaries and mail them to Sears' HQ since they apparently fail to understand what "all" means.

The thing is, nobody at Sears (at least at the customer service and management levels I have access to) has any idea as to what goes on so they make up their own interpretations.

A particular wrench set doesn't ring properly? "Oh, that's because it says Craftsman Professional and only Craftsman tools are on sale."

A rubber maller doesn't come up as on sale? "Oh, that's because the sale says "20% off on all hammers" and a rubber mallet is not a hammer."

etc etc.

At least this time things worked out in my favor, but I'm finding that 4 times out of 5, something goes wrong and nobody understands why.

I went into Sears this morning to see what I could do with GW sales. I was gonna buy some stubby sets ,but read they wear made in China. I thought Tawain. I am sorry, I am not gonna buy Chinese stuff if I can help it.

I ordered a bunch of stuff via the internet - good savings on a tool box and the pry bars. I picked up some socket storage thingys and the $20 1/2 impact wrench. How can you tell if an item has a Craftsman Club discount unless you add it to your cart and see if it discounts it? What about an item off the shelf in the store? I joined the Craftsman Club back when Stuey turned us onto that first big Sears sale a couple of months ago - still have not received my CARD-CANT PROVE IT IN THE STORE; BUT IT SHOWS UP ON THE INTERENT order form and discounts stuff occassionally. There has to be a way to know if an item gets a discount with CC prior to ringing it up, doesn't there?

All before noon today, I went to the local Sears mall store. I was able to purchase the Gearwrench 2 piece cushion grip roto ratchet set (model# 81223) for $29.99 (originally $59.99). The store manager overrode the register system and honored the published 50% off deal. Before traveling to a Sears Hardware store about 30 minutes away, I spoke to the store manager by phone. I convinced her to honor the published 50% off deal. I was able to purchase at this store the Gearwrench 3 piece magnetic adapter set (model# 81237) for $12.49 (originally $24.99).

You could always test with 7072222222222222.

To answer my own question, these prices are online only. My closest Sears store definitely did not have these prices when I stopped by.

Most of the deals should have been valid in-store or online.

Sweet! Sounds like a good idea, but I didn't want to give the management any extra time to prepare an argument.

But, when I went back to the 1st Sears so they could activate my $10 gift card, they reiterated what they had previously, suggestion that they are desperate for more business.

Stuey,

I just purchased the Wiha Philips, Slotted, Square Set 79248. Thanks for saving me at least $5. This Wiha bit set would have cost me between $17 and $18 at the local industrial tool supply store.

Hey Stuey, I hesitated on picking up those Felo Beech handle screwdrivers and then they were out of stock. :(
I wanted to pick some up for my father-in-law for fathers day.
I found a site that has them at a similar price, I ordered some a few days ago...they should be getting here today. Just thought i'd give you a heads up, they're $22.15 for the set of 5 beech handle screwdrivers.

Don't forget to let us know more about your experience with that retailer once the order arrives. Hmm, it looks like they've only been online since September...

Shipping was a little later than expected. I ordered on the 11th and it showed up today (the 22nd)
They also sent me the wrong UPS tracking number, which made it appear that my order was going to florida instead of california, and to someone of a different name. The retailer sent me the right tracking number for my order once i emailed them.
Shipping was also a little pricey. I ordered 3 sets of those screwdrivers and shipping was 16 dollars.
Packaging for the items was crumpled up pages from a kohl's catalog (btw there's a sale on sports bras). The screwdrivers showed up undamaged though :)
On the up side, they take paypal which is convenient and they stock some hard to find items.
It's obvious they're new to the game, I would order from them again as long as I'm not in a rush to get what I purchased.

the screwdrivers rock btw :rocker:
They have an old-world feel to them with modern ergonomics. My only complaint is that there's a big ol' barcode printed on the handle which really takes away from the appeal of a beech wood handle

Hey Tmoney that's my compressor! I bought mine used for $150, I wish I could've found it new for $250 like at tractor supply with that coupon, sounds like a great deal on a compressor you're not likely to ever have problems with.

Here's my deals:

at delcity use code pro2055321 for 15% off the first 75 or $100 of your order(something like that), ends june 30.

If you're not familiar, delcity.net is a great place to get any wiring supplies. Great service, it's all high quality stuff, and cheaper than local. I've orderd many times.

Yourautotrim.com has: enter coupon code summer09 during checkout and receive 10% off of your entire purchase. Offer good until June 30, 2009. Cannot be used with any other promotional code.

They're great for a lotta trim stuff and I've ordered tough to find DAP landau top adhesive from them, and I'm about to place a decent size vinyl order.

Of course, if you're looking for "rave" or "whisper" brand faux leather vinyl(both high quality), you can get them for 40% off 1 item at Joann fabrics. Just sign up for their newsletter and they'll email a store coupon. When you go to their website there's a 40% off 1 item on internet orders coupon there. They'll even allow you to special order the color you want at the coupon price in the stoor! Caveat-they said it'll take about 2 weeks and possibly 6 to get your special order vinyl in stock.

If you sign up for a joanns account online you get your first order shipped for only 2.95, aswell.

My car has waited a long time to get the interior done, I can wait another month if it means saving $150!

do you have the coupon for in_store??

yes, I believe if you sign up online for their mailing list, they will mail you one. Worst case call the store and tell them you received it but can't find it and see if the manager will give you the discount. :pimpflash

Wiha bit sets sold out.

Got my bits delivered to my door today. One of each-pretty neat. The plastic case actually has a 1/4" hex slot in the end so you can place a bit in the included metal extension, insert the extensio(holder) into the plastic case slot, and use the case to drive if a real driver is unavailable.

I have i said it before? THANKS STUEY! for all the times....

If you use those blue shop towels... like paper towels except stonger, Costco has them for $12.29 for a 10 pack... better than Wal Mart's $1.88 per roll.
