I would say you got a great deal on the block grinder. I'm always a day late and a dollar short. One day though!

Grumblebum: Thanks, I'll look up Bagged and see what he did...whatever I end up doing will be minimum... I like nice old stuff but can't afford the time with all of them... That 28 Ford in my shop is killing me, it just setting there waiting.

TMcCay: Thanks, GJ folks seemed have set a going rate of $50 as a decent deal...so I went there with that price as my plan. They had $80 on it but the guy came off that so fast... I'm guessing his wife may have marked it at the higher price. I don't know, he didn't bother with a counter to my $50 offer. I was in and out in 10 min. My success is most probably tied to my checking local CL a few times a day. Also, sometimes I'll make contact with a seller and buy over the phone...I've even wired cash thru Walmart to get the job done. And... I'm a very persistent type (aka: a pain in the ***)

I may cut some off this old saw table and bolt it to it in order to add some weight to it. More stability is what I'm looking for.

Here's an ol Rockwell that I got a deal on...also came with some good abrasives

My apologies all but it's been awhile since I've feed the thread. I've been trying to organize and clean the shop...

Today I decided that my Jess-em router table could use some attention. I gave it an update with spare **** that was only cluttering up my shop. So, Cleaned up and made my table more functional. WIN, win!

1. Roller base (Pulled out of a dumpster) came equipped with lockable casters AS well as stationary pads that can be spun/up down. Both applications are desirable to me.
2. Metal cabinet (Was getting thrown away at work) magnetic door latches and to me...looks like it was made for it.
3. Heavy Duty Full drawer slides (Free somewhere a long time ago)
4. Drawer Box (Recycled Formica clad plywood)
r90_181408.jpg

r90_181441.jpg

r90_124827.jpg

It's functional now....maybe I'll break down and paint the components to all match...but I do need to move on to other things.. So, this is probably FINAL at 90%, I'll take it

I took a 5 dollar yard sell dolly (heavy duty) and added a push bar to move it around. May build a metal and wood scraps bin on top of it next.

Glad to be back GB, thanks. I was a busy guy during my sabbatical...but just not on the computer much.

Took a break from cleaning my shop up and finally got to a little honey-do for my wife.

Took a 60's little wagon and did the unspeakable. Had to get a little dog pic before...
144739.jpg

Thought I'd mark the rarity of not having a ton of **** atop my saw with a progress photo of the two halves. Cut the wagon with a 4in grinder w/cutting blade.
093656.jpg

Added some 100yr old salvaged lumber for the backs.
103920.jpg

There will be bath towels hanging from these 3/8 in pipes
113440.jpg

142852.jpg

145138.jpg

Final product, will go in a guest bath, My honey is happy.

It's been busy in the shop.. emerald coast storm prepping and all.

First is a recent find. Schrader air pressure kit, Mil spec. circa 1960's

231234.jpg

Sign restoration project, typically I'd refrain from altering an old sign but the poor girl was in tough shape. This vertical was as crooked as dog hind leg initially. Built a frame made it straight.... Then, I decided to remove a few 'distractions' not fine art but a 5 feet it looks pretty good.

A few more projects.

Salvaged from a 1934 and 35 edition of Popular Mechanics.
**please disregard the piece of tape...I had a splinter that I had to tame with a little glue and hold down**
180629.jpg

Next up...I bought an old seed bin from a general store a few years back. The bin was a 10 footer and since we only had room in the house for half of it... I took components from the unused side and made some singles to sell in my booth (Evansville 'Frog Follies' Swap meet.
175017.jpg

And finally.. a small purchase from an auction yesterday... a small Keen Kutter Axe Crate

Finally got to use that old Rockwell electric sander that I showed about 6 posts previous to this one...that thing sure chewed thru the paint and rust covering my worktable...now destined to be my welding table. Took me about 4 hours to make it look like something. Looking to do some mig welding on it soon.
r90_193424.jpg

r90_211102.jpg

Also got my welder outlet wired up and ready to go.

Hey Don...Thanks for stopping by. I was beginning to think I had cooties or something. I've been scrounging a little, some shop time, and misc. goofing off. That table is another salvaged piece, hard to believe it was being scrapped too.

Hey Don... I've got a few bays that are an option. It'll end up in a side that's not been pictured so far...a little on the cluttered side.

Nice score on the brake HD just had a look at the thread you started. My neighbour offered me use of his magnetic brake today so I have access to one to knock out a few things when I get some time.

Fab table cleaned up well, time to sizzle some bacon

Cheers GB

Poppin Johnnies.. that fan is another project. A craigslist find, in the original box.

I'll use it to pull heat thru my shop...it's delayed as I have yet to get the wood stove up and running... story of my life.

Thanks for dropping by.

I used to trade at Wise!
I only live 100 miles away and it was the only REAL speeds hope I knew about.
Every phone call was the same,"Hello, Wise speed shop, Vic, what do you want!"
Weird then, funny now! Now I'm probably the age Victoria was back in the late 70'summer.
Never met him face to face, but the guys in the shop said,"yeah, that's Vic."!

Interesting, I only know that they supplied the Mr. Tuff Drag Team back in the 60's. Hoping to frame that old sign metal soon and hang it up proper.

Absolutely Don... I still have some paint left. Just need some more primer. Probably no sandblasting. I believe I just degrease and sand. And I lucked out to have something with it's own wheels...so there's that.

I did have a little neat project this weekend. It started out as an old and nasty grease drum.
220837.jpeg

r90_111143.jpg

My plan is cut several 3in diameter lengths of PVC to store and organize my future collection of Tig rods (in training now)...we'll see. Or if Tig continues to drive me crazy...it'll be a nice trashcan.

I attempted to make a few things happen during this 4 turned 5 day weekend... Hade some installation guys come out and spray foam in my shop ceiling. 3in open cell foam for 1200 sq ft bid was $1300. 5in open cell foam for same was $1550....I did the 5...but the crew was helpful and it ended up at 5-7in throughout. I'll eventually close in the ceiling but that's another day or years away. Can already tell a big difference...happy!!

Next...for fun I finally go around to installing this SUNOCO sign that was previously knocked down via a 2017 hurricane.
190911.jpg

I ran two one by's for sleepers across the studded walls
Here's the first test run of the lights...
162340.jpg

Disclosing my ignorance... I tested the "S" yesterday with the wrong voltage and NO LED step-down module. I ended up burning the LED of this letter out,
162354.jpg

Luckily I had a partial "more banged up" Sunoco set...I swapped the burned out LED's and replaced with the innards of an "O". Took some time with a razor blade to remove the strands to swap... pretty straight forward task. Ended up buying a Class 2 LED power supply in town (couldn't wait to order and save some $$).
172649.jpg

Success....
183525.jpg

I needed something to put the LED power supply unit into... had this old mil spec. first aid kit box lying around...decided it would be cool up on the wall.
154738.jpg

I checked the box for heat build up but found nothing significant. There is a slot along the top for cooling.

Finally..... my lovely wife suggested that I buy a new welder so I don't have to borrow a friends little welder... God I love this woman. Put an ad up on the local sites... and sold the old one straight off.

Grumblebum...always good to see you drop by. I am very much looking forward to that new welder. I didn't have any complaints with the old one but it needed to move on. I'm hoping to "up" my game with welding an fab in the future and it's a step toward that goal. My space is a disaster at the moment...but I am thinning the heard (equipment) just sold something tonight (a mortiser machine) had it for 10 years and never used it...will probably need it tomorrow!! Thank goodness it's down the road from me... take care.

Hey Buddy
That Sinclair barrel looks great.LED lights can be a pain but the sonoco sign turned out sweet. So what was wrong with the old welder?
i just replaced mine a few months ago cause it wouldn't spit out the wire smoothly.
Enjoy your new toy

Hey Don
Thanks for the complement. The old welder was just tired. Wire would lag at times (may have needed a new liner) Some of the plastic pieces around the heat settings were cracking away...yada, yada, yada. I'm starting to take the hobby more seriously AND Momma said I could...so there's that.

Hey all... a wayward traveler from the past.. Ol Hounddog here. Thought I'd drop by and say hey! I've been splashing in the shallow end of the YouTube pond. It's been an interesting shift of attention for me so far. Still a lot to learn before I'll consider my channel viable, but I'm having fun. Still love this forum though. I do hope to visit from time to time. If your interested in a fine example of a late 40's guy stumbling thru setting up a garage/piddler channel on YouTube...drop by and say hi! Oh, I've undergone a name change with my lobotomy.... it's Boxcar now, as in Boxcar's Garage (my old USAF flying nickname from back in the day) Anyway, hope this finds you all well and your getting plenty of shop time... I sure have been,...the biggest downside I've found is that if your filming a project it takes 4 x times longer to get it done (and I was already slow)
