How did I do? Craigslist find. Snap-on box

Managed to snag a Snap-on triple bank toolbox with tools from a guy yesterday. It's a krl773, 73 inches long, 24 deep. When I got there it was a lot rougher than I was expecting but still a good box and had some new drawer slides. Has scratches on the drawer handles. And can't forget about the tools.
Here's the deciding factor of how I did, the price. $1000. How did I do?

You did damn good especially since it has all those tools that appear brand new!

Yeah, you **** pretty hard. I had a friend who (over)paid 4x that for an empty one. Those tools look pretty good, probably an easy $400+ in used value there alone.

Was this guy on crack? Or heroin? Was the **** stolen? The tools alone are worth $1000. I never see **** like this on Craigslist near me. That would be priced at 9k or something even higher around here. People think Snap On= gold here.

I always assume it is and planned to run the serial when I got there but he had all the paperwork on it and it's 100% legit.

Was moving jobs and houses and needed it gone. It was actually listed for 8,000 on the ad. That's why it never hurts to ask.

doing quick resale math you could sell the tools keep the box and be 200.00 in the positive and have a free box

I am actually doing just the opposite. Selling the box and keeping the tools due to already having 2 other snap-on boxes. I'd say I'm doing pretty good for an 18 year old. Just to toot my own horn a little..

Yeah, seems like something doesn't quite add up here. But assuming it was all legit and above board, what a deal.

I come across a lot of ad's where people have them listed for the retail value trying to make people think they are worth a lot more.

I am considering posting the pictures of the even bigger deal I made a few months ago. It was less money and more tools. That might be too much for y'all to handle in one thread.
I'm new to GJ and I really appreciate all the positive comments. Love the forum.

Thanks everyone. I am actually selling the box if anyone is interested. Located in central Arkansas. Even though I plan to make a little $$ just thought I'd offer. Just send me a pm.

Wow - just saw this. I have been flipping boxes every now and then over past year or two to support my expensive 70 Mustang Mach 1 project. KRL two-bay models are my main target as everyone loves them and I'm lucky to find them for <$1200.

You sir have taken these type deals to a new level and to that I respectfully submit a most humble (and envious) "you ****".

Good job!

Thank you Mike. I guess since I took it to a new level I might as well take it up one more and post my even better deal I mentioned earlier. Look for it in the next comment. I had posted it to GJ a time before but it sparked a lot of controversy and I had it removed. But what the heck, complain all you want. I love reading the comments.

This toolbox I also found on craigslist, very vague listing such as, snap-on toolbox with tools $9000. No picture. Yes, the list price was $9000.
Long story short, showed up planning to just buy some tools, ended up buying toolbox and all the tools. Had to load the toolbox in back of my truck, still no idea how we got it in there. NOT Stolen.
Dun dun dun, the price...
$800 bucks.
