How do I identify multi-wired circuits?

Dave, I understand your point, but I have pulled out a few outlets to look at them and everything looks ok. The toaster and microwave at maximum would be 22.5 amps max. And it would not be prolonged. But I am going to fix it and make it right for normal usage.
I'm no longer concerned with the generator feeding single phase since during those times we would only run a single kitchen appliance and now that I'm aware of the circuitry we would avoid any MWBC issues.

Make a label up in excel. You can buy adhesive sheets at places like Staples, or just print and tape it on the inside of the cover

I know this post is a few years old, but when I created this thread, I did not have a good grasp of what a multi-wired branch circuit was. Due to the replies of this thread I discovered that my individual breakers were installed incorrectly, putting every shared neutral on the same phase. I just came across this video that I think is a very helpful tutorial.

This guy's video at 9:23 has the phases incorrectly marked on a panel he used for illustrative purposes. I commented on it in youtube but he hasn't edited it.

The last few minutes of this video with him adding breaker ties to MWBC's appears correct. Just make sure you are pairing the "black" and "red" of the same MWBC with the breaker tie.

Be careful what you find on the internet no matter how well presented. (Trust but verify. )
