If you want them gfi protected, feed the switches from the second set of terminals on the receptacle. If you don't, feed the switches in parallel to the line feeding the receptacle.

RightWhether it is required by code or not seems to be uncertain, but what is certain is running them through the GFCI is very easy for you to do right now and no one has been chastised by doing more than NEC requires.
This would be my concern also, I am a bit paranoid when it comes to stuff like that and try to have if multiple lights are present to have them on different circuits.Right
As I said earlier, my city inspector called my little 40 sq. ft. remodeled bathroom with a 3x3 stall shower tiled all the way up to the ceiling and open above the glass door a wet area. Wiring the lights and the fan after the GFCI receptacle was the same amount of work and no extra material. The only disadvantage I can see is that if somebody drops a running hairdryer into a sink full of water and trips the GFCI and it’s nighttime, they will end up in the dark. Anybody else think of a downside?
Yes and the next place to look is in the instructions for the luminaire. Some will say that if you locate this damp or wet rated fixture in a (whatever the manual states) location then this fixture must be GFCI protected. NEC is one piece of the detail. The manufacturers directions are another part.210.8(A)(1) says that all RECEPTACLES in the bathroom need to be GFCI protected. It doesn't say anything about luminaires or fans, except that if a luminaire has a convenience receptacle built-in, then it needs GFCI. 210.8(C) says that luminaires in crawl spaces need GFCI, and nothing about bathrooms. 210.8 doesn't say anything else about GFCI being required for luminaires or fans, except that there may be additional requirements in Chapters 4, 5, and 6. I know Chapter 6 mentions GFCI required on luminaires and fans near swimming pools, but aside from that, I don't believe there's anything in those chapters that mentions GFCI for luminaires or fans.
410.10(D) addresses luminaires in bathtub and shower areas and just says where they can be located and that they need to be rated for damp or wet locations. No mention of GFCI being required.
Well, NEC will be happy. Inspectors will be happy. Residents happy? They sure aren't in my home.. These dual function breakers work great for anything with moderate loads and are a great "code solution". But try running a hair dryer or vacuum cleaner on one.Use a dual function arc fault / ground fault breaker to feed the circuit and everyone will be happy.
