I've always wondered how you attach a merkin. Velcro, staples, rivets, bolts? Are special tools required to get good adhesion? I'd imagine the implications of a loose merkin would be catastrophic...

Most often in the old days, they were held in place with rubber cement, but with the advent of Gorilla glue, that turned out to be the best adhesive, because it stayed in place, no matter how rough the movement around the edges was. Sometimes removal did cause some amount of tact and gentleness, but then, there were some men that were known to just rip them apart. In those cases, I just recommended a slower pace to prolong the life of the product. Some just don't have a gentle enough hand to do this type of delicate work. I think that is where I developed my Carpal Tunnel problems. :headscrat

Network Technician, I travel all over southern New Mexico. In such a large area filled with little towns, I have to do a lot of diverse jobs: data and phone wiring, network setup, pc repair, printer and scanner maintenance, wireless installs, install new systems and the like.

My main tools are mostly electrician type tools, but I have a calling to vintage tool steel. :)

I work for my father's golf course construction and irrigation company. During the spring, summer, and fall, I'm either driving an off-road dumptruck, putting together irrigation pipes and fittings, or if i'm lucky, running an excavator. These winter months I'm usually in the shop fixing all the stuff that broke during the other months :lol_hitti

I`m a civil engineer, working as a Project Manager for the NZ Transport Agency. I manage our block (<$4.5M) construction programme. This pays for the cruel, dehabilitating disease known as Land-Rover addiction. Not to mention dad to two awesome wee kids...

(You try working on an 60`s british 4x4, fitted with a Japanese diesel - you need one of just about everything to do any work)

Vehicle Operations & Maintenance Assistant for the US Postal Service(VOMA). I am responsible for four facilities vehicle needs. I don't fix 'em unless I have too. Mostly, I make sure that routes are covered vehicle wise and if need be drop what ever else I might be doing to address any problem that would arise. A lot of paperwork and computer input. Also, I make sure that we get good and proper work from the garages that we do business with.

I work in the oilfield, I'm the guy that tells them what kind of rock they are drilling, and when they hit oil or gas.

In my spare time I make tricycle motors.

If you don't mind me asking what company do you work for? The reason i'm asking is unless the outlook for mining or power looks 100% better in the next couple of weeks I am probably going to be out in a set of red coveralls come next December.

The Merkin thing made me laugh my *** off. Hadn't heard that term in a lot of years. Like SMEGMA... anyone know what that is?

I'm a Senior Systems Analyst for a Fortune 500. Basically I'm a geek that gets paid really really well. Been a geek for almost 30 years.

EDIT: ...and I've never heard of a merkin before now...and I am almost sorry I know what it means now, just trying not to think of the logistics of such a thing...::shudders:: Bet you're glad you retired Junk ;)
