I seen a youtube video where a guy wraps wire around a cylinder and slides it off. Just don't think that will hold up.
Please post the link that would be great. Maybe I will see if there is any sheet metal laying around the shop and fab something up. I am new to welding and jump on any job that requires it.
all my wrenches are organized with wire coils.
get solid core, i used some sort of steel core stuff with a thick blue nylon(i think) insulation. i am not sure what the original application for the wire is, but it works damn well for wrenches. it does not bend out of shape very easily, holds them on edge so you get full use out of the drawers, and they do not move at all from the drawers slamming shut.
i dont think you can really wear out a wire coil by pulling wrenches out of it. it would take years if you get a decent type of wire with a durable coating and heavy gauge. about as cheap is you could get when you compare to any sort of tool organization products...
i also used a tapered alignment bar to make the coils, so they taper down to the smaller wrench sizes. i have never even considered buying wrench organizers since making them. i say give it a try, if you dont like it, its just wire.
