How do you store your Extensions?

I found a fork, spoon, and knife kitchen drawer organizer at Bed, Bath, and Beyond that fit the narrow drawer of my 44" HF box perfectly. I have the extensions sorted by drive size in each slot of the organizer.

Several years ago I purchased SO 1/4" and 3/8" general service sets. Both cases had additional storage areas original intended for socket sets. The lids could be removed without having to cut them off and I have found these cases to be useful for adding additional ratchets, drive tools and extensions. I don't have or need as many as some others here so this works well for me and keeps my OCD happy.

Full disclosure though I am in the minority here I think because I do appreciate well laid out blow molded cases with lids removed for drawer organization. 1610701232d4668f91a2875322eeb002.jpg

I built slider trays in some of my drawers, my extensions are in a slider in the socket drawer. Slides left/right to get at what's underneath.
You don't see many Craftsman stainless ratchets any more.
It was 30 years ago I picked up my set. Nice ratchets.

I forgot about this thread but I was doing some work in the garage and snapped a picture. These are the HF trays I mentioned before:

I have them loosely organized by length and drive size.

I think this solution works for me.

The shorter ones go onto a rail along with universal joints, adapters, etc.

The longer ones go along the side in descending drive size and length.

No the best, but works for me. If I need more space later, I’ll figure something out!

I have three drawers dedicated to sockets. I used the Lista dividers to make a slot for each size of ratchet/extension, right side of picture. There is some wasted space with the Gearwrench tray on the left, the left middle is torque wrenches.

I've posted this a few times, but since you asked, here is the solution I had. They drove me nuts rolling around every time I opened my drawer.

Simple, and can be made from just about any material.

i did something similar to this but added my ratchets and two spots for adapters out of 2x4's around my shop that way no matter what box i'm working out of i'm not having to search for the driver i need

I get the $0.99 socket rails from HF and snap all my extensions to that. I don't have a ton of extensions (maybe 12-15) so I bought one each of 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2" rails, and swapped the socket clips between them to use just one rail.

Not a whole lot I hate using more than socket rails.

I think you're either a person that loves them or the direct opposite.

I can't stand the stamped metal ones, but magnetic rails are great. Much better than the Hansen trays.

I've thought about putting mag rails on the inside drawer side for long bit sockets. The sockets could lie flat but would be secured nicely.
