I did a search and can't find a thread about this.

How do you store your rolls of tape. All sizes and all kinds. Please include photos. I am looking for ideas for mine.

I've got mine on the pegboard using one of the long rod attachments. Similar to the ones one the right middle of this picture.

I use a bulk CD container for masking tape, with a peg board rod cut down to slide into the spindle hole for storage.

Excellent time for this topic. I recently closed in the knee walls of the garage's upstairs with whie pegboard. (I even made nifty liftout panels to get behind for storage)

I have been trying to think of things that could be stored there to clear drawers and cabinets. I already moved all my bagged buff pads, etc....this tape idea rocks! I currently have them in a plastic tote in a cabinet.

I took a simple pine board, drill a couple of 3/4" holes in it, then glued in a few short lengths of 3/4" dowel rod. I took this contraption and screwed it to the wall over the pegboard.
You can see them in this pic to the left and above the tool box.

Under a pile of **** on the workbench or it gets shoved to the back of a shelf. Maybe it ends up under **** in the tool box on the truck. It usually can't be found until I buy another roll, then I find the old rolls while looking for the new ones. By that time the old ones are usually borderline unusable, but I make do. Probably not what you were looking for, eh?:spit:

I have some wooden dowels on legs of my workbench. I also have a piece of rope with a 5 inch piece of small pvc on it forming a "T".

Stored the un-opened tape in the supply room, usually had a couple shelves of it.

One opened it would be transferred to the banding/taping cart, we had welded a channel made out of two angle irons across under the stamping block, was wide enough to hold one of every style/color of tape we had.

Sorry, no pictures.

I like crashbumper's pix of the tape holders from Harbor Freight BUT....Nate is right. Masking tape adhesive dries out and it last almost indefinitely if you put the rolls in a Ziplok bag. I wonder if there is a way to do both?

I don't have a picture of it, but I have an old toilet paper holder that I put about an 18" rod in and line up all my tape rolls on it. I sorta adapted the spring action to the rod. I've got drywall joint tape, duct tape, masking tape and even some teflon tape rolls on it. When I want one I can use the tape right off the holder or I can slide the roll off from either side. Works pretty good; if not uber neat.

In the FWIW column... I remember reading somewhere a couple of years ago, that if you don't use masking tape very often, you may have noticed that the adhesive is dried out when you go to use it, making it most likely unusable. I read if you keep it in the refrigerator, it will keep a long time. Perhaps this applies to other tapes as well and is just one more use for your shop fridge...

In the basement stairway.
I hang dowel rods, fastened on one end and wire-looped on the other.
When I need a particular type of tape,I unhook the looped end and choose.
I counted 61 rolls of different tape down there and still need more!

I keep mine at Home Depot.
Whenever I need some, I go there and buy another roll.
I have no idea where they go after that, but I suspect that it is hiding somewhere with all of my missing socks.

plastic pegboard on the end of cabinets:

Question, is that silver pegboard the stuff they used to sell at Lowes or something else? They stopped making./selling that stuff and I'd love to get something that looks like it.

BTW I tend to just stack my tape on it's side on a shelf in my cabinet.

They are partying with my ice scrapers.
Every year, first frost, I dig through the garage and can never find an ice scraper or snow brush so I buy one.
Come next year, they're gone again.

I found this roller and Bracket on sale at Harbor Freight a while back for $3.99 (regularly $5.99).

See it here:

Cut and re-bend the bracket and it makes a great industrial-strength tape or paper towel holder for the price of a cheapo plastic kitchen towel holder.

Hey, this looks like a nice set-up. Mind posting more pics of your shop? I have some gladiator stuff and am going to buy some more but I'm not sure what pieces and the layout, but I like yours.

Thanks!
