Is the water absorption test done with small puddles of water or just a few drops? And how many minutes is pass/fail? Or does it depend on the product?

Some posts in this forum have recommended 1/4 cup of water, and Concrete Sealers USA's TS210 product application states "a few small drops of water". That's pretty far apart. :eyecrazy:

I just poured about 1/4 cup of water, divided into 5 puddles (1/20 cup each). One of the puddles absorbed in ~5 minutes, one in ~15 minutes, and the other 3 took about an hour. Not sure what that result means. o_O

What is it exactly that you are testing for? The results all depend on the reason for the test.

So it depends on the product. Thanks @Shea .

I'm trying to figure out if there are any floor finish options that can simply be put down on the new concrete, or if I should just plan to grind.

I'll try "a few small drops of water" next to see if the TS210 is viable.

@Armorpoxy , what is the appropriate water absorption test for the 2-layer BallistiX system?
