If you go to the hardware store and notice that they have one type that you don't have;; or worse yet: they have MORE than you;; that would be a problem..... Whip out your pocketbook and even the score// :willy_nil

they will come in handy when building a new doghouse after explaining to the SO

Going through this right now for I'm organizing a new box I bought. Between body, ballpeen, claw/rip, smaller sledges, leather head, wooden chisel mallets, dead blows and rubber mallets, I got about 25+.

I was surprised I had so many in the bottom drawer of my box. I'm trying to think of way to store them along the wall so it doesn't clog up my box.

I probably have more than 40 hammers and I don't think that is enough.

Normal? Here? You've got to be kidding:lol:

Have you seen the many threads devoted just to Trusty Cook deadblow hammers with their special color runs and styles?
Some people here bought everything in blue just to replace them with green a month or two later. Not that there's anything wrong with that.:dunno:

There, there people...

To answer this...

We need to define "Normal"....:dunno:

Are we going to try to define "Garage Journal Normal"...;)

Ain't no way to do that, Bubba...

"Human Race Normal" changes too fast to keep up...:p

So we'll just use the definition that makes the most sense...

You always need a bigger BFH than you already have...And that depends on exactly what it is that you want to bash on...

See simple, really...

Like most of us, I started with a few of the various type in the toolbox, claw, deadblow, etc. Then I moved to a new house with a couple of out buildings, and I decided each building needed its's own hammer so I didn't have to run to the toolbox in the house every time I needed a hammer to make a delicate adjustment to something.

Somehow or another, these hammers have seem to magically multiply when we're not around. It would scare me to actually count how many are around now.

Epstein's carrying Vaughn/Grayvik does not help this sickness.

I have 1 good hammer I think Stanley that I have been using for over 10 years. It's super durable, has some good of composite handle that has taken a tremendous amount of abuse.. I want another like it in a bigger size.

Metaldad - What is the leather handled hammer six from the right used for? I have one for some reason and don't know what it is for. Typical hammer hoarder.

17 sounds OK to me.

Just from memory, I counted 20 in my stock and I know I'm overlooking some.

According to a friend in AA, "normal" is a setting on a washing machine.

Quote of the DAY!

I have around 100 and have built up my willpower not to buy any more.

I said that quite a while back, but then I find another "interesting" one...

"hammers" count stands at 167 by the "official" count

total in the "striking" inventory worksheet is 276.

That's normal for me. :D

Before I read the thread I was thinking there isn't a fixed cut off point in the amount of hammers a person can own. However, some of you guys might want to open up a tool store.

You can't sell tools. :lol_hitti

The only time I ever sell a tool is if I am replacing it with another one, but even then, I usually just move it to another area as a "backup".

Interesting that trusty cook now makes different colors for their hammer sets. Well boys I got the hammer sickness but not for different colored hammers...

Do they really make pink ones???:dunno:

~60% of your hammers are claw hammers, you sir need to diversify.

Before I started reading this forum, I had 3 rubber mallets, 2 cheap claw hammers, a 30 oz. mechanic's hammer, and a sledge hammer with a cracked handle. I was happy.

You made me buy an Estwing framing hammer, a Wilton Bash cross hammer, a range of ball pein hammers from 6 oz. to 48 oz., a tack hammer, and a House of Handles handle for the sledgehammer. But I'm still resisting the siren call of Trusty-Cook.

Can I count the back side of my ratchet???

funny you should ask....

I have a hard and fast rule about that:

If you're on a ladder, and you're more than four rungs up from the bottom, any tool is a hammer.
