I only have around 20 ratchets that are regular users in my garage box and three vehicle kits. But I also have a collection of around 80 SK manufactured ratchets. I decided a couple of years ago that I should keep the collection to one manufacturer, or I would wind up with a whole box full instead of two drawers.

3 standard lengths (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive)
3 roto heads (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive)
3 long pattern flex heads (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive)
2 specialty (one long double drive (1/4" and 3/8") flex head type from Harbor Freight and one double articulated 3/8" drive from Harbor Freight)
3 torque wrenches (1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive)
1 stubby 3/8"
3/8" and 1/2" breaker bar

That puts me at 12 ratchets, 3 torque wrenches, and 2 breaker bars. I could honestly get rid of the long pattern Gearwrench flex heads and be just fine, but I like having them. My two specialty ratchets hardly ever get used, but when they do they are truly lifesavers and they were dirt cheap. Likewise, I could go down to only a 1/2" drive breaker bar too if I had to but the extra in 3/8" is nice to have.

With the above tools, there is really nothing that I've encountered at home or on vehicles that I haven't been able to handle and do so with pretty reasonable access and ease.

Eh, it's become a fun collection - plus, they're something I can (and do) use, so I can justify splurging a bit more.

Who knows - maybe I'm still looking for the perfect ratchet?
Need to try another brand if your gonna do that. Your collection looks a little bias [emoji1]

Here's my ratchet drawer at work. Missing a couple ratchets I carry in my tool bag and most of my torque wrenches are in a separate drawer.

That is a crazy amount of plomb. Is there quite a bit down south? Where ever you got them from there maybe a shortage now.[emoji3]

Here's my updated 1/2 drive set. Famous last words but, I think it is complete. Edit: these are my users. There's a couple more in the collection, but I don't use them.

I never thought to count before reading this post. I’m a non-pro mechanic but a professional hobbiest and tool aficionado and I have 26 without counting breaker bars & torque wrenches. It makes me curious about how many screwdrivers I have?

So far I'm at 25. I have 3 that I keep at work, plus 4 Craftsman v shifters that reside in another drawer, then my ratchet drawer. abaec59acae40ba4805579ffd5495dd8.jpg

12 total...still looking for more. 6 of them are low quality acquired in sets over the years. The goal is to have at least 1 really good one in each common style/ length. No need for duplicates or 1 of each brand.

I have about 8-9 Snapon and a Matco at work. Also have about 12 or so various brands at home. You gotta have a regular and flex in all 1/4-1/2 sizes and it helps to have super long ratchets as well

I think my total is 11. I do plan to add a couple more to that, but could honestly get by with far less.

Well this thread made me think about it cause...well...I never thought about it before :p

So it appears I got 42 just in my wrenching box and I'm sure there's a solid dozen between other locations and kits. The worst part is just like most, I WANT MORE!!

I tried to keep them separated by size except for the torque wrenches but I missed a couple doing it that way.

That Steelman ratchet I had I HATED it. Super bulky and most the time the backdrag was so high even lubing that I would have to grab a different ratchet to spin it out

I completely agree. I only keep them as a back up weapon in the event I run out of rounds for my .45. That 1/2" could do some serious damage when properly place upside the head.

I'm VERY tempted by the 36" Montezuma. I'm realistic though, I have no space on top of a roller anywhere in the garage... I DO have a SO roller and top sitting empty. I'd be tempted to sell the top and get the Monty, except its only 29" wide....

They are nice and great quality... I would recommend them.

Well this thread made me think about it cause...well...I never thought about it before :p

So it appears I got 42 just in my wrenching box and I'm sure there's a solid dozen between other locations and kits. The worst part is just like most, I WANT MORE!!

I tried to keep them separated by size except for the torque wrenches but I missed a couple doing it that way.

i noticed you have the locking carlyle and armstrong ratchets there. Do you like one better than the other? also in 1/4 the gearwrench flex vs the carlyle. thanks for any input!
