I saw a neat old Delta saw for sale locally. He wants too much ($500) but I've never seen one like it. Any idea how old it is? If he comes to his senses on price, can these still be put in usable condition?

1930s; not common to find one in such good original condition.
Hell-for-stout shop-made stand.
Doesn't appear to be a Delta motor.
Agree, $500 is way-high. Delta made a million of those 14" saws in the 1930s- 1970s. Unless one is a collector and prizes early patina, wait for it and a better one will be along for $250.

OWWM has lots of reference material, you should be able to find literature, pics, and members w/the same or similar ones.

Just go here and look up Delta band saws. Lots of pictures and information. 14" Delta Band Saw
I've been looking for a band saw and came across this one for $125. My Google-Fu is failing me today, can any of you enlighten me if this particular model is worth my money for metal and/or wood cutting?

I answered a craigslist ad for a Delta 14” band saw. I have been looking for a metal cutting saw for my grandson, so I went to check this one out. It is listed as a “Model 890, Delta Double Duty”, presumably wood and metal cutting from the early 1930s. Looked real good when I saw it, nice...

@MushCreek that band saw was made between 1934-36. The Delta 14-in was introduced in 1934, had the raised indentations on the wheel covers and pressed steel wheels. By 1937 they did away with the raised indentations and made several other improvements. Also by 1937 they started putting the Delta badge on the upper wheel cover, this would be the three line Delta logo that lasted until mid 1939.
