Have a KRL722 in flat black and red trim. Wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best way to clean it. S/O guy says has only sold 2 others in flat black and doesnt know how they clean them. I have tried a soft towel with hot water and it works somewhat but not great. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try some kind of low-residue detergent like Windex, or other similar glass cleaners.

For cleaning dusty surfaces, I use windshield washer fluid with a microfiber towel. I like the washer fluid because it doesn't contain ammonia which is harmful to paint.

Another option may an "all-surface" cleaner. I've been using Pledge All-Surface lately, and it's GREAT. No streaks on glass, no residue left behind, no sheen, cleans plastics and synthetic surfaces just as well.

I've never tried it on flat black paint, but it works well on everything I've tried it on so far.

oil. i have a car matte black that i painted w/ ppg dp 90 back before it was the cool thing to do. the ppg dp 90 is a sealer, so wont rust like primer. if i ever want to paint the car it is a matter of scuffing and spraying the new paint on.

when i clean it, it gets washed, dried, then i spray a rag w/ wd40 or some other lube and go over it to give it it's sheen. if i dont, it just has a dry look.

To my knowledge the dp90 has zero UV resistance. I have used it in undercoating applications but for that reason i have chosen to utilise matt clears for applications that are exposed to daylight.

To add fueld to the WD fire... IDespite the affect that these may or may not have on the paint itself, I avoid oily substances in detailing appications as the tend to attract dust and dirt increasing the frequency required for cleaning.

If ya don't want to try the stuff SO recommends, call SO and find out what brand(s) of paint they use on this box and call the paint mfr. Usually, if you can get past the helpline main phone number sock puppets, the tech wienies behind them can help a lot.

According to my dealer, and to the best of my knowledge all snap on boxes are painted with PPG paints.

When I was researching on how to clean the black on my hood of my mustang I found Magic Erasers to work best for pulling stuff out of the paint with very very little pressure. It works great for me and my 20 year old flat black paint

Resurrecting this old thread due to my search for cleaner for my new to me snap on roller cart that is slimed with oil. I found great reviews on the FLITZ matte black cleaner and found that FLITZ makes the snap-on cleaner for them. Snap-on the of course doubles the price.
