By button I mean the ball that holds the socket in. Mine is stuck so the sockets don't really stay on. It's my SK Wayne 3/8 ratchet which I quite like to use!
Thanks

I don't know if you can fix that problem, I have tried in the past and failed I had a nice Mac universal extension that one day decided to do the same thing still haven't fixed that I think the spring is busted from running sockets on and off that's probably what is wrong with yours too. You may be able to get a rebuild kit for yours and fix it that way.

Yeah if it's just the normal round head they still make them, just call SK and get a kit for it. Probably won't even get charged for it.

Try soaking it in a small container of transfluid over night, then smacking it against something. If no success, rebuild time

Time for a rebuild

That sounds like the consensus. I'll do that.

Funnily enough, I did that not too long ago. It got stuck shortly after :lol_hitti

You can try lubricating it fixing it i don't think so as the ball is pressed in. Get a rebuild kit from S-K for it. Email them leave the model number your address and phone number you will get one in a few days at your front door at no charge. S-K has the best warranty in the industry. Besides Craftsman. Lol

Sometimes the ball isn't stuck, but actually broken on the backside; the result is the spring can't put enough pressure against the ball. I discovered that several months ago when I had a 1/2" drive extension that was stuck; when pressing the ball and moving it, it was clear that half of it was missing.

Just an update, I emailed SK with the problem and a few hours later they responded saying a repair kit was on the way!
