Hi,

I bought a Matco MB4725 roll cabinet last night and it only came with one key. I would like to have an extra to keep with my spare keys in case I lose my key or have something happen to it. I want to make sure I'm not the guy coming back here in a few weeks asking how to break into my toolbox... :)

Can I send the code on the back of the key to Matco and have a spare made or will I have to swap out the entire lock assembly with a new one?

Thanks,

Erik

I needed the same thing and when I called Matco I was told I had to use the Matco tool guy that was assigned to my area. After giving them my area cade they gave me the number to my guy and I had to arrange a meeting place to give him my code and in a couple weeks he had my new key. It cost me 25 bucks for one key. Below is my original thread.

I bought a used Matco box that didn't come with keys for the locks. Called Matco corporate and they gave me the phone #s of my two local Matco dealers, one wanted $ for the keys. The other one said that since I was a Matco customer that there would be no charge and that he would get me matching keyed locks for both my top and bottom tool chests. Price 0 $ , now that is good service. He also asked about the condition of my wheels/springs because sometimes they would sag on the bigger boxes, he would cover them under warranty.
These were 10 + year old 4 bay boxes.
When I needed to move them he did it for some gas money.

Any good locksmith will be able to make a copy for a few dollars. Doesnt matter if its the round keys.
