Judge: I have been working on truck for 30 years it shouldn't be a problem. That said I have looked through your build threads and I understand the level of quality you are looking for, the rest of your equipment is top notch from what I have seen and I get it. the idea of a making your own split bushing out of UHMW plastic seems to be the best to me. The plastic makes a good bearing surface, while not needing lubrication. In addition it will dampen the metal to metal contact. I would get a piece 3/4" to 1" and cut the correct size hole with a hole saw then slice the "doughnut" in half and bolt the two halves over the pipe. With a couple of bolts securing the "doughnut" to the frame.

Post up a couple of pictures of your solution please.

I will post what I come up with. Most may say there is no issue, I personally don't like it. The rattle when I'm hitting bumps drives me nuts. A pillow bearing is an expensive option that I won't roll out.

Your suggestion I'm not quite following, what would I bolt it to the frame with? Some type of housing?

Its been a while since I been under one so consider that but,, the frame is thin there. Either cut it apart or split some tubing, hold up inside and weld them to the frame to basically increase the thickness so it doesn't wear a thin groove in the pipe. Might not have to do every hole, just the ones you use most.
Whoops, I see the same concept mentioned above, could even be plate so it had flanges or long flat bar with identical set of holes.

On each end of the tube there is a 2" wide by about 5" plate with holes for the linkage rods going to the pins. There should be about an inch of space on each end, from the plate to the slider box. If you have that space, make a split bearing that is about 2.5" wide or so and about 6" tall. The width would have to fit between the linkage rods. You would then cut the block in half, thru the bored hole and attach the the slider box frame. I couldn't access your original pics, to see what setup you have, but I thought it was Hendrickson. If it's a different setup, grind the welds off the back plate. Grind the welds off the washers on the linkage rods. Pull tube out the front. Cut bushings out of tube or pipe, your choice to match the release tube OD and the frame bores ID. If everything is clean and the sizing to the frame is right, adhesive or epoxy would hold it in place. Hopefully this makes sense, as I know of no other way to describe it.

My pictures aren't visable at the current. Thanks to photobucket. However, most of what your explaining my suspension does not have. I'm thinking that your explaining a slider suspension from Hendrickson, either a Vantraax or Intraax, I have neither. My suspension is a HT Underslung suspension. It's really not as simple as grinding a couple welds off washers to get the tube out. There are washers on both ends, a handle on the front and 3 ears in the middle for the lock pins. I really need something that does not involve removing the tube.

I believe you are probably out of luck then.

Here are some better pictures of what I'm working with. Again a van trailer keeps being mentioned. This is a platform and uses the HT suspension, not the Vantrax that's typically found under van trailers. So lifting the box off the suspension won't work. I still haven't come up with anything yet, it is however driving me crazy hearing it bang while I'm maneuvering around.
