My excaliber engine hoist boom buckled right above the ram with 3000# on it at the 3000# extension. I don't know what you added to yours but it looks like just angle. A truss adds a lot of strength, essentially making the section as tall as you want for vertical strength. Also, where you extended toward the sides, where the legs used to attach, that really needs to be beefed up as it's going to want to pull the middle down. Boxing that so it's essentially a continuous tube from one side to the other will help there. Mine lives outside and the middle tube filled with water and froze. So I replaced it with a heavier tube and added tubes for the bolts to go through so they can be cinched right without crushing the tube. It made it a lot more rigid though I don't know if it really benefits as much from it as far as strength goes.
