I am starting a new build thread, will be an "add on" but it is going to be double the size of my original shop, I built my 30X40 building 4 years ago and now about to start a 40X60 add on with 30X30 awning. My original shop I thought would be plenty big for anything I ever needed, But my Dad passed away leaving some family heirloom cars (Mustangs) and now need more space, as most of you probably agree, you can never have enough, I'm calling it the "HT Corral".

Looks like you got it done without weather (mud) problems.

I note that you have a retired shipping container. Folks around here have had bad experiences storing cars in them. We have a lot of humidity here and they seem to collect a lot of condensed water. That my not be a problem in Early Texas but I would be careful anyway.

Yes! was delayed a week because of the rains, but got it in and had a half an inch the next day, should be good for it. I've been watering it daily and now the wait for the metal to arrive and slab to cure. I don't plan of storing anything except parts in the container, eventually making it storage after the shop gets completed, but humidity not a big factor here, but good info anyway, thanks!

i'm not sure that's big enough. :D what county are you in? we had a wet spring, then totally dry for all of june and july. finally had good rains the second week of august. from the looks of your grass you must have had similar conditions. will this be a steel bldg?

I'm in Brown county, central TX, we got rain about the same time and some last week as well, it will be a metal building on the slab and a 30x40 awning between the two. The building is completed now should be delivered this week, just waiting a few more weeks let the slab cure, patience is not a strength I have much of!

Yeah steel is great, inside walls are the biggest issue for me, I like to hang signs, so I have to cover them, this one will be a lot! thanks for the comment.

Matt- look at my plans above, I am adding to my existing 30X40, it will end up an L shape so I am building an awning over the rest, I didn't want any poles in the middle so the 12" I beam is 40 ft so it will free span.

Jim- I bought it through Sweetwater steel, I was told it is owned by one of the Mueller family so I assume it comes from same factory.

Thanks for the questions guys.

Looking good. What is going on with the "chicken wire"? Is that a restraint to keep the insulation in plane?

Another milestone, electricity going in today, going out of main box down the center purlin through the wall into the new shop to the big square box, it will break off from there to plugs, lights, and switches, I plan on covering the insulation so I had them leave some slack at each plug box so they can be dropped down when walls go up, currently mounted on the bottom of the purlin. I'm going with these 4 ft, T5, 6 bulb lights, same as what I am using in the old shop, except more of them, will be nice to see it lit up, tomorrow I hope! As always thanks 1/2 Cup for the comments!

My air line kit came today, went with RapidAir 3/4 inch kit, 100 ft should be enough but we will see, might have to get another one.

Todays project, wife and I painted the floor, was a long day, used Home Depot's Behr 1 part epoxy, seems like paint to me, but that's what it says...
