Huot Bottom Roller Box-Need assistance

I dragged this old Huot box home today from a yard sale for $10. I didn't need it but I couldn't leave it there for that price. Does anyone know the model # or name for this particular box? Also, I am having issues taking the lower bigger drawers out. I was able to get the top drawers out but the lowers won't release. I noticed the slides are wider but not sure if that makes a difference. Anyone know if there is a trick to the lower drawers? There's also a few slides that are twisted. Does anyone know if Huot still sells slides for this box? I only plan to clean up the box and use it but some of the drawers stick with the twisted slides. Thanks.

Those are nice boxes. If slides are stuck it's probably because they are twisted. Just gotta work at em until they come loose.

Yeah it's solid. No rust at all. Someone decided to paint the already red box, red again with a paint brush but that's ok. The bigger drawers do not have twisted slides, I just can't get the catch to release. Wasn't sure if the process was different on the bigger drawers than the smaller drawers that I already got out.

I use the reinforcements of wiper blades as removal tools. I like the wider ones, and put a slight bend in the end to help it get past the catch on the drawer. You slide it in, getting it between the raised stop in the drawer and the corresponding stop on the slide. The flat keeps the stops from engaging as you pull out the drawer.

Few years back I replaced a pair of drawer slides on a Beach cabinet with slides from a Remline I purchased on Ebay. I can measure one if it helps.

I use the Snap-on shim tool for removing drawers on old boxes. Huot just like yours is the only one I gave up on. I couldn't get them out and gave up.

I have a Huot top box, and when I was cleaning it up, I was able to get all the drawers but one using the zip tie trick. Basically, you use zip ties instead of a shim tool, works great.

So, about a month ago, I got into a discussion in another thread about how to remove the drawers on Huot boxes. During which, I posted some pictures and discussed the steps I went through to by-pass the stops on the sliders in order to remove the drawers on one of the new(ish)(possibly 70's)...

I actually flipped this one for $45 and bought a Snap On which had more drawers. Decent return on my initial $10 investment LOL. Thank you for the offer.

I actually have a bunch of Snap On shim tools and I searched how to remove these Huot drawers. There was instructions that showed you needed spring steel longer than the SO ones so I just taped them together and it worked well.

I ended up selling the cabinet but before I did that I contacted Huot and they answered right away. They do not have slides for vintage boxes anymore. I did however find out that for a self addressed stamped envelope you can get some Huot labels. I'm sending out for one myself.
