I would go with 54" to 60" bottom cabinet .
Masterforce has a 11% rebate on and nice boxes for daily use due to drawer latches so maybe worth a look, they also have hang on side cabinets so cheapish expansion .

When I was looking for my first box a few years ago I found it was best to get a used box from craigslist (and this one happened to come with a fair amount of tools too) compared to buying a new box from a store.
It'll save you some money and let you think of what else you'd prefer in a box. As long as you don't smash the **** out of it, it shouldn't drop in value from what you paid for it too.
You might get lucky on ebay also since toolboxes can't be shipped. I still kick myself for letting two snap-on bottom boxes full of tools sell as a set for about $600 because I didn't have any spare cash at the time and no one wanted to loan me any lol
As long as it holds your tools securely and doesn't piss you off every time you open a drawer it should be fine for starting out. Gives you more funds to spend on tools to go in the box too, which is really what matters.

Yeh when starting out first box wants be value for money and possibly expandable so can grow with it a bit and not need complete change for a while.
Used branded nice but tends be hard find something worth having unless luck on your side .
Masterforce Husky or the HF boxes when at best offer prices are quite good buys.
HF 72" at $999 is pretty good buy, not so keen on the 56" drawer layout but 22" depth is nice plus have side expansion cabinets cheap, Masterforce has best range of sizes, quality construction/latching and colours plus expansion cabinets.
Would be good consider all options including a local look at used and see where it takes you. be smart as wise first box can last, grow or turn into a home box or if buy used you likely sell on with no or little loss .

I looked at both masterforce and HF 44" yesterday. Still cant make up my mind. Both good quality and will be home garage use only.

You'll outgrow the 27" chest quickly. Tool layout is what makes you an efficient mechanic. Otherwise you waste time digging. Time is $$$. You want more drawers and you want them deeper. Like 20 inches.
