I think you might have solved a mystery for me. This has turned out to be an interesting night.

It's been pretty informative for me as well ha. I may have to do a deep drive but I think it's safe to say it was made for husky but it's a little odd that the only other one I have found a picture of is yours. I should start posting more of the mystery tools I pick up someone always knows something

It's just crazy to me that husky is not more popular Sigmund mundl in my opinion Is one of the biggest contributors to the industry and has been involved in many innovations. I also found evidence that he was instrumental in the creation of the vanadium ratchets with his involvement with the creation of the gearless ratchets. If there are any out there I hope to one day find one of these Screenshot_20240724_183350_Photos.jpg

I never researched Husky, but picked this up at a local garage sale a few weeks ago for a dollar along with some other old tools, maybe someone here can tell me about it. It is the small 5/16" size, the box etc. are the size of most manufacturers 1/4" sets. I thought it was nice because it was complete and I don't see small sets as much as I see large sets of socket tools. It is like a pack of cigarettes. I like how they bothered to mark the sockets square or hex, as if someone was going to use the tools who might need help figuring that out.

Would love to purchase if it's something you'd part with. I believe this is the version but hard to say for sure with there being different unknown versions out there and no decal left on it

Bit hard to read but it's set no. 999. Husky also had a partnership with williams, resulting in a dual marked williams-husky set. Williams later continued to offer the set marked only Williams.

What I notice are the dividers in the boxes, the way they are installed is different, some are in straight, some are slanted, and they are not all the same. Maybe that is a clue or a way to classify them.

The husky only marked midget sets came in 2 known versions, the 999 set and a smaller set in a cardboard box.

Awesome sets! I'm still missing the earlier ones. Pretty hard to find. Funny how they did a collab because husky "wrench" co didn't make wrenches yet ha

I found a possible local history for the 5/16" no. 999 set a few posts back. It has been etched "ECE CO", and when I looked in a 1929 city directory I have on hand, I found an Erie City Electric Company, which supplied power to the city back in the day. So this set may have worked for them for a while in some way before being taken home by one of their employees? It is always fun for me when I find a name stamped or etched on a tool that I can research.

Husky seems to be pretty good as far as providing accurate illustrations of their sets. Which makes me wonder if there a set out there that actually looks like the "baby set" from the cats. My only problem is that some of these sets are hard to find illustrations of. Here's a cool one I found. There's also a table showing every socket type and size they made but i forgot to save it and now cant findScreenshot_20241004_001821_Chrome.jpg

Is that the one from ebay a while back? It's the same set as mine actually. Mines missing the speeders which I had but foolishly traded away before getting this.
There's basically 7 main sets the "baby set" then the 190 utility set i think it's called.
Then the 986
And then there's a giant set that goes up to 2-3/8 (I have most of that set but no case)
And the duel set is literally just the other 2 sets (heavy duty and standard) put together Screenshot_20241004_184952_Chrome.jpg

They had a full range of sets. Pretty scarce but worth collecting if you have the patience. I am missing some of the smaller sockets in this one, I'm sure it may take a while to fill it out.

Oh yea definitely more sets than that like the drain plug set and multiple different williams colab sets and whatever these big 4pts came from. There's still cats that are out there somewhere.

I could probably get you pretty close to complete on the sockets.

A half-inch set that came from an old man who lived several blocks from me before going into a home. He probably bought them shortly after WWII. Visited him in the home and he said he was a mechanic working on B-25 bombers during WWII on the islands off of Alaska, and got to ride along when they sank Japanese ships with a 75mm gun in the nose of the plane. I have a number of other tools that were his too.
