I just glommed onto this jack at an antique shop. It's seized up, at least to finger pressure. I didn't want to try sterner measures before consulting the GJ. I cleaned it up a bit with solvent and wire brush, and found that most of what I thought was rust was just dirt and the texture of the cast iron endpiece. I have a use for it if I can get it working; I'd appreciate any tips on disassembly if a hydro requires different techniques from ordinary tools. I've started off by applying WD40 and PB to all the threaded parts-gonna let it sit for at least a day or two.
Meanwhile, I'm curious as to what brand it might be. The closest jack I've found on GJ is an Autco, but it's not very close except in overall configuration. There's enough paint left on it to tell it was all red, except for the height adjuster which is white. I've posted pix of the markings I could find, hoping someone can ID it.
If I can't get it working, at least I only paid $10 for it.

That AJ100 is found on Blackhawk jacks

Its Definitely Blackhawk Origin, You can tell by looking at the Pump Piston assembly, Might check with CRTDI as he has alot of Vintage Advertising in the Hydraulic department.

Thanks for the info. Knowing it's Blackhawk should make parts easier to find. I've started wrenching it a bit, and with little effort got the pump and lock-unlock valve working freely. The pump packing gland nut came loose easily, but not the pump body so far. I was delighted to see the pump rod looks to be in good condition, no rust and not much obvious wear. The ram is free too. I'm able to lift it manually to its full extension, and it also looks to be in good shape.
now, to re-read the sticky on jack repair and see if I can glean some wisdom as to disassembling the cylinder. Looks like a really, really special wrench is necessary at the top. Probably grabbing any part of the jack with a pipe wrench isn't a good idea ...

I can't tell whether the part that allows for adjustment of the lifting hook is permanently attached to the top of the ram. It's firmly in place, but it could be just rusted. I've got it sitting in PB. I'll give it some time before bringing out the BFH.

Research Ho!!
