I'm looking into doing the front wheel bearings on a 2005 odyssey. Would a HF 12 ton press be adequate for this job?

I can't see why not. I pressed the carrier bearings off my son's Durango with mine and those suckers were on there tight!

12 ton should work fine, but i went with the 20-ton when I got one, for the bearings on my ****** back in the day. I saw a buddy's 12-ton, and it's way more "flexy" than the 20-ton.

Was considering and purchased the 20 ton for the same reason. Glad I went for the 20. No problems...

I've maxed out my 12-ton on carrier bearings before. Took a 20+ ton and a lot of heat to pop them loose. That's the only job where I thought I needed something bigger.

Wheel bearings shouldn't be an issue, though.

I have an HF 12 - never had something it would not do. Built several 9" rears with it. Axle bearings, etc. Must be something special about an Odyssey - never used a press on wheel bearings or races.

i have and recommend the 20T. First thing I did with it was replace the rear axle bearings on a Ford Explorer. It took all my 230 lbs on the jack handle to move it. I'm sure a 12 wouldn't have handled the job.

Those rear bearings love to overheat and seize in the knuckle. Not a fun job at times... I've got a 25T OTC and that one requires some heat at times also. Just luck of the draw I guess.

We have one of those HF 12-ton presses at work and I have always been surprised how well it has held up over the years. I have definitely maxed it out a few times but nothing has ever broken on it.
