HyperLite wiring / cable routing??

My shop (40x60x16) will have 10 Hyperlite high bay fixtures, 5 in each row. (Already purchased)

They will be wired on two switches, 6 towards the front & 4 towards the back of the shop.

These lights have a second cable for a dimmer circuit control, which I don't plan to utilize.
Can you simply cut these shorter? Or should I terminate them in the junction box with the power connections?

I don't plan to utilize the plugs with and outlet configuration, I will be putting in a cord grip for a cleaner look and hardwire them inside the ceiling box.
Taking the dimmer cable into the box would be by simply mounting a second cord grip and feeding it thru into the box.

I have very similar lights. I installed plugs on all of them and outlets in the ceiling, but assuming this is a shop, you could cut and terminate them with cords set to your length. I installed plugs because I assumed I'd be replacing them, but 4+ years in, they are all still live.


I do wish I had installed a dimmer. They are "daylight" bright. Annoying in the evening with a beer. But requires another wire, right?

Yes, it requires a separate set of wiring for the dimmer circuit and their special dimmer switches / controls.
I may look into the dimmers closer, but didn't plan on utilizing them.

Understood on the beer drinking light levels !!

You can just cut the dimmer cord, but remember that the driver will still be pushing 10VDC down it. Definitely not dangerous, but you might wanna tape it off.

Follow up question; Dimmer specifications states "Rated for upto 700W"
So each dimmer will only run 3 lights?

I may run just one dimmer on two lights and have the other 8 just on off.
For the low light desired situations, like mentioned above.
