Yes, there is access from the cab to the box. I can also secure the box from the cab if I ever have to leave the truck for service. The cab and chassis drives a LOT better than the traditional step-vans that dealers have to start with. The weight capacity is another advantage. This truck handles the weight of my inventory without a problem. My last tool truck was a 16 ft step van on a Freightliner MT45 chassis. I had that truck overloaded with the weight of my inventory. I had to replace the front springs and right after that the body started cracking. That is when I decided that I needed a new truck. The box is heated and air conditioned. It is better insulated and I can keep the box cooler in the summer because I do not have the radiated heat from the windshield coming into the box area. This truck has an 18ft box. It holds more tools than the standard 16ft step van. If I had my perfect truck, it would be a 22 footer but when you buy used like I did, you take what is available at the time. A new 22ft truck like what I want would cost well over $100k
