where does one fine a good brand/model of a "real dust extractor"?
A bag, then toss and replace. What is a good replacement filter that can be rinsed out and reused?
A bag, then toss and replace.
So no filter just the bag?
As stated earlier, both. The bag keeps the filter clean so it doesn't get overloaded.
Ok. Still looking for a filter recommendation.

As mentioned earlier, buy a GORE Cleanstream filter. Scroll down this link to find the GORE filter that fits your vacuum.

Best thing I ever did was to start running the bags in my vac... Being the tight *** i am, I scoffed at the idea of spending that much money on a damn bag!
I'll never NOT run a bag and filter in them again... I use it to vac out ash from a pellet smoker on occasion. I always dreaded it, because I would need a shower afterwards from all the airborne ash..
yeah, I still ***** about having to buy the bags, but no more than I use the shop vac, it's totally worth it to me.
I made this cart with a cyclone filter and a 60L drum. after I destroyed my last shopvac in rage cause the bag broke and clogged the filter , new filter cost more than the new vacuum cleaner.
I have a bag +filter in the vac but 99% of the dust stays in the drum
now I can't believe I wasted so much money on filters and bags.
