hey guys, some info on Beta-i used to work for Beta in the UK.most of their products are manufactured in Italy-but they do have a subsiduary in China and some of the products are now chinese- (usually called Beta Easy)however they do maintain a quality assurance presence in the factory there. The oringinal Beta is top drawer stuff-right up there. Some of the boxes are still made in Italy-think the cantilever is one of them. The guy at their distributor in Califonia (Procare USA) is one of the good guys--Chuck Lombardo Jr.-even has an Italian name!!!!! give him a try.

The Beta cantilevered tool box looks very similar to the one from Facom....both are made in Italy. Beta has a single handle and Facom has two.

I have a 22" Facom on the way from Europe. I think the Facom looks better built, more rivets holding the lid on, better looking braces for the drawers. Then again I could be wrong.

What's the delivered cost with customs and shipping for the 22"?

The Facom box is made by Usag in Italy-part of the Stanley Group. But a lot of their stuff is chinese as well now-made in the Stanley factories in the far east!!!!!
I"m biased i know but i prefer the Beta stuff and i am assured that the guy in Huntington Beach,Califirnia (Procare USA) is gearing up to a better distribution job and will have a website very soon, and will be doing some promotions-can"t wait.

The Beta is very well made. I got my 5 compartment box (Like the one in this thread) from my dad 6 years ago, he had owned it for more than 10 years. It has been knocked around in the back of my Cruiser and my old Hilux (Toyota truck) off-roading; sliding, slamming and rolling in the bed with all sorts of **** and snow.

The paint has held up great and only the lips of the lids have bent, which is more than understandable. The drawers all line up great and it opens and closes smootly.

I have a 3 compartment Beta (Identical to mine except for missing two drawers) that I'm slowly filling with smaller wrenches, 1/4" stuff and other tools that fit in little hands. It's my 8 week old son's tool box. I have no idea how old it is, bought it used from a retired electrician.

I borrowed a set of Beta T-handle hex wrenches from a mate when I was racing karts about 15 years ago and fell in love with the brand. Earlier this year I decided to start putting together a new set of tools and went with Beta. Already got a set of combination wrenches (T10), a few of those orange T-handle hex's and two sets of screwdrivers just arrived (T199 and T202). I still love the brand. I'm a Formula1 and MotoGP junkie, and if it's good enough for them, it's good enough for me.

A BUNCH of Beta stuff turned up at the local closeout store a couple years ago. I didn't recognize the brand but I gave it a open mind. I was not impressed at all. Looked really cheap. They had complete tool sets with boxes, socket sets, wrenches, etc. Stuff ended up going uber cheap as no one would bite. Like 90% off and I think most went to the scrapper as suddenly one day it was gone.

Perhaps there are different lines of Beta, and this was the cheap line, I don't know.

If it's working well for the OP, have at it!

I was wrong...it wasn't Beta that hit the closeout store. It was some brand that used the same color scheme. Sorry. Great pics by the way!
